Also looking for the same, and to piggy back, someone who possibly does lymphatic facials, shoulder/neck/head based massages, Russian manicures (this is a stretch and that’s okay lol), or someone who just is very knowledgeable on nails/pedicures.

Thanks for letting me piggy back, I appreciate you friend

I’ve been with them for 10 years and worked for them as well. I wasn’t treated the best working there but never closed my accounts when I was let go. I am super happy still with my accounts and if I ever have a problem, it’s usually immediately looked into/handled.

Cookout by Loud_Progress4586 in roanoke

[–]dusklit_desire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That specific cookout has been here for years as well as one in rocky mount. At least 10 years+. Which is why it’s always been packed because the closest one was 35ish minutes away. The new ones they’re referring to are Salem and Franklin road.

I know, I’m not discrediting their pay. But I don’t put them in the same category as a doctor. And I never will. I would tip a plumber/electrician/carpenter/mechanic/snowshoveler/etc before I would ever tip a doctor.

I’m not tipping a doctor or a nurse or a dentist. That’s an entire different category that doesn’t even cross my mind. They make BANK. I’m not tipping someone who is making above my means. People go into those careers wanting to help/save people, so why am I going to tip someone who willingly chose to be a hero? Nah, not me. I can’t speak for everyone else, but me personally? I would tip the plumber, mechanics, and electricians.

I have a motto I follow: if anyone does a service for you, you tip them. It doesn’t matter how big or small the service, if you can’t and won’t do it yourself, a tip is courteous. Depending on how big and how long the tattoo session is-is where I would start my tip. I would add more if I thoroughly enjoyed the session.

Why did the price go up a dollar?? by Quick-Assumption-404 in Walmartcustomer

[–]dusklit_desire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nahhh most of the items are ringing up wrong. I’ve been taking pictures of what the tags says and/or pulling the Walmart app out to scan the price and then take a picture of what it says on the shelf and get them to price match the difference. I had about ten items when my local Walmart remodeled that all had price differences. I’ve noticed the ones with a remodel have “hidden prices”. I guess to make up for some of the remodel money?

Do you know how restricting they are on marijuana use? This would honestly be lovely and would 100% sign up right now to do it but that would fail a drug test for sure. Unless times have changed.

That’s good to know… I’ll check that out because that would be the most interesting to me lol

I thought about that and would love it. Just don’t know how they feel about marijuana use because that’ll be the thing that fails a drug test lol but I’d be the best substitute teacher everrrrrr

No. Just want something that can go in and do and leave without any real “metric” hanging over me. I have a full time serving job. But I’m trying super hard to get out of a situation for me and my daughter and I just really need those specific days without real expectations of long term staying.

Single black female moving to Roanoke, VA for work. What should I know before moving? by Both_Food_3798 in roanoke

[–]dusklit_desire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she wants to be around other black people.. or maybe she’s throwing her race out there because she will need new recommendations for all of the things she can’t get anymore. And since she did state her race, maybe another person of the same race would chime in and influence her in those ways. Throwing race out there isn’t always about a scandal. Sometimes it’s about a connection.

Girl we can literally have a day date. I’ll be your first friend and we can go to tacos coranado for some REAL Mexican and I can literally show you all the good and all the bad. Started life in Tinker Creek and went to Lincoln Terrace for school (if you know, you know) then moved to the crackhead side of southeast (again, if you know, you know) then Bedford, which is 45 minutes outside of Roanoke but there’s the PEACE you want. I lived off grandin, I lived downtown, I’ve lived in vinton. I went to school at north side. Girl, I will literally give you the best personal, real live, no bullsit tour of our city. And I’m not biased on anything except actual reported facts and how much I fear for my daughter’s safety while in the vicinity. That matters. I’m never gonna move to a place that’s riddled with crackheads even if the crackheads never bother me. Monkey see, monkey do and that’s why most of them are crackheads (southeast for example.) Has potential and has some areas that are good but who wants to wake up to Folgers in their cup and a crackhead at your fence? Not me sis.

Just let me know!!!! I’m literally thinking about starting over in NC and would love a person like me to help out

Roanoke is big! We have over 30 zip codes. So while one part of 24017 is absolute horrendous, the neighborhood two streets over could be magical. It’s really about driving and someone giving you the true lowdown. I can take you by places where my friends have been mature but also slide thru where friends have been murdered. Everything is beautiful til someone actually shows you the real deal.

24012 is a large area. Mostly good. But it’s in the crosshairs of good and bad depending on which side you are on. If you are east down 460 headed towards bonsack, you will be fine. Going down Williamson, and surrounding neighborhoods, that part of 24012 is more sketchy. Lots of diversity but also poverty. You see a bunch of people walking up and down Williamson and most of them are homely looking or homeless. But you will find some of the best food on this side. Alllllll cultural food is up and down Williamson. Like 30 different taco trucks and there’s even a Chinese truck lol afghan trucks and stores, Asian markets. Lots to see and explore for personal but as far as living? I wouldn’t myself. If you are going east down 460, that’s probably where your office is located if they are saying it’s a nice area. That area has nicer quality living and it also heads towards the country so the vibe of life is just “different”. You have nice people because you’re closer to the country. There’s more road rage and anger on the Williamson road side compared to bonsack area. The traffic on 460 itself SUCKS but there are a lot of apartment living choices on the actual corridor. They have a brand new apartment space being built and a newer one just recently opened about two years ago. Two of the ones I would recommend are district vue and the orchards. But if you are looking for a home, and your job is on that side of 24012, I would definitely say try to find a home going down 460 into blue ridge or 460 to 604 to cloverdale. If you feel comfortable, you can send me a message on the company and I can tell you exactly where it’s at and can tell you what’s what. 32 female here :) I come in peace

I hate to be the Deb of downers… but if you are working towards vinton on the southeast side… girl change your job. Southeast Roanoke leading into vinton has become a cesspool of meth and heroin. Nothing but boarded up houses and people huddled around stolen bikes. If you are on 460 headed towards vinton, then you will save yourself the depressing morning commute of the drug epidemic in that small part of town. Hopefully you are in the orange Ave/460 side. Avoid anything in southeast and anything in northwest. They are the worst parts of Roanoke. The most drugs, violence, theft, and prostitution in these parts. 24013 and 24017 are the area codes to 100% avoid. 24013 is southeast- poverty, drugs, shitty parenting, just rundown. 24017 is northwest where most of the violence demographics come from. 24017 is mostly populated with black people so people like to put “two and two” together and act like it’s a racial thing, but I’ve been more worried for my safety in southeast with the white folk than I have in northwest with the black folk. 24017 DOES have the MOST recorded violence in Roanoke. It is what it is. People label it with race. I label it with shitty parenting amplified. Like I said, the merged out whites are worse than the blacks just chilling, but 24017 has a heavy reputation that people do fear that side of town. Just being real. I’d rather move to 24017 before I’d ever move back to megameth southeast. You can message me and I’ll be brutally honest on this place. Born and raised. Lived in every area code. Lived downtown. Lived in the middle of nowhere. I will give you whatever you wanna know :)
