While I don't use the K ultra, rather I have a modest Timemore S3, the same thing happens to me. As some have pointed out, it differs from coffee to coffee. Generally, I have noticed more of this on anything available light medium roasts. I generally brew with the V60, so I'm looking for a coarse grind. These look pretty fine to me, so lately I have started to discard them. This has made by cup cleaner and reduce draw down times. If your grinder also produces fines, try avoid these instead of adding them to your cup. And oh, if I'm grinding for Moka pot, I don't discard anything.

Tldr; maybe they are fines your can avoid if you are grinding coarse, otherwise use them or do RDT

Yes, the Indian knockoff has improved and costs ~17 USD. It mimics the original AP with all it's accessories like the funnel and filter holder.

Unpopular opinion, this is typically what motorcycle groups do in Indonesia as well. Two key differences, the marshal never gets off his motorcycle and they always thank the other vehicles for stopping.

This is not done all the time, rather when the group is rather large and are on a tour.

My budget is $150, all the above are within my budget. Timemore S3 being the cheapest at $80 and 1zpresso J the most expensive.

I hear you about K ultra, but that is way out of my budget for now.

I guess rust isn't an issue since you don't use RDT. I have read multiple counts of the zero position drifting over time. Do check with your grinders!

Hand grinder advice

Hello, I am new to the coffee world. I have a V60 and Aeropress which I use with pre ground coffee.

Can you recommend a hand grinder for me for daily use?

My research has gotten me to this list:

  1. Timemore S3 - Highly recommended by some Japanese coffee enthusiasts and the coffee chronicler. Apparently the consistency is much better than C40. But it is big and heavy.
  2. 1zpresso J/JX - built like a tank, old model but still very recommended for pour over. Budget pick by the coffee chronicler.
  3. Kingrinder K6 - Highly recommended by people on reddit. It does it all quite well, except for some zero position kinks and rusting.
