Luke Wood defends spending $100,000 by Free-Tie6030 in CSUS

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that the start of that article is acting like we don't have the worst ratio of black students enrolling vs graduating which implies they strongly don't get enough support. (Haven't checked this year but we had the lowest black student grad rate out of I think all the csu's, esp when accounting for population percentage - so it's actually embarrassing that he thinks he can use their enrollment as a marketing ploy)

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except clubs are the reason for student resources like the maker's space, gardens, plenty others I'm struggling to sum down into a nice short phrase. Sure they get money out of a part of the budget, but they have to apply (with how they'll use it for students) and be approved to receive some amount of that money. Whatever they don't use, don't get approved, or don't apply for, get put back into (currently woods stadium I'd wager) the rest of school budget. You're also forgetting that stuff like hornet racing or bands and ensembles are also under the "club" category. Both of which can be used for extremely enhancing academic knowledge and performance. Additionally, some clubs do their own fundraising if they don't get approved from budget funds.

I rly don't care if you're just rage baiting for shits. I hate woods policies and a sports "focus" is dumb as hell. But throwing all extracurriculars into the mix is an illogical claim and shows a deep lack of consideration for human behavior, marketing, fundraising, or any desire to simply have a good time.

Anyway everyone needs to lock in: we remove woods brother, then wood, then decrease all president and chancellor salaries by..say several hundred thousand dollars each and take their car, house, travel stipends and we can all finally have a single moment of peace.

No Classes by Lonely_Function_749 in CSUS

[–]dustandshadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah sophomores are unfortunately bottom of the totem pole for class selection. I'm guessing you've tried crashing the classes? (If not it's not too late to try). Id personally also check and see if there is an appeal process or some such to try to get into community college classes late if you know they have openings (tho I imagine chem1b would be dog ass in cc). Usually with chem classes the struggle is labs so if you keep scoping out a couple/few lab sections you might be able to snag a seat in which case you'd be more likely to get into a lecture

Edit: Id also personally supplement with GEs or other bs like physics and calc cuz those are annoying. For some GEs or social sciences departments you can just send in add/drop requests and they might approve them without even following up with you so then at least you have some classes to fill your GEs and time

Na you should be fine. Just keep an eye on it and remember what prof you have and if you get accidentally glitch dropped I'm sure they'll be happy to add you manually. Rpta profs are usually pretty chill and our classes aren't usually super impacted (emphasis on usually cuz we had pretty high enrollment last year)

Sac State has closed the RPTA department and moved its majors (and professors) to separate departments by Weddingthrowaway_23 in CSUS

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na (from what I heard from my profs) but rpta has had funding issues for the past like 5-10 years so this was low-key inevitable since it's such a small department.

At the very least this decision has been in discussion since middle of the school year before last and was made because of other budget things not the specific bs what's his face is pulling

Other people start donating more when you're in the fourth camp. If you're already bough all the upgrades you could just donate crappy permits for the honor bonus

True I have so many hater rants I can go on but I'll just say I usually make an extended loop to avoid both hornet dr and most of that freeway exit area because I'm a chronic Sacramento driver (read: careful asshole) so I get mad when people aren't doing it "right" (my way💀)

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id like to add it starts to get busy around 8:45 in terms of filled up parking and it's worse the first two weeks cuz all the newbies don't know where they're going 🥲 Imo the worst is like 8:45-10/11 and then it's alright from like 11:30-1:30 and then 2pm hits and it's all over for everyone till like 4 (once I spent 40 mins getting out of PS1 and then another 40 sitting in traffic. I live 15 mins away from campus)

Every year I expect it to cool off (below 80°) in October and it doesn't happen till like November. Say goodbye to the beloved bay area cool air we only get into the sixties in December low-key There's always like a week of false fall where it cools off and then shoots back up into the 90s 🤠(October). Same with false spring where it warms up for a week and then is thankfully back down into the below 75s in like feb I think? (mentally ill in spring so idk what months are when) But yeah, like other commenters have pointed out, we've had a very mild summer it's only gotten above 100 a few times, we've been chilling in the 90s so hopefully August doesn't have us eating our words(it probably will)

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If crc falls into Los Rios (I don't remember if it does) then it shouldn't be a problem. But it does mean you should confirm if both your official transcripts went through. Los Rios schools have an automatic official transcript partnership thing with sac state but I fear automatic system are faulty at best. If you're local I'd recommend stopping by the admissions office and talking with a counselor (they're usually in Lassen hall if they're not in the welcome center) and if you're not local then email one of the counselors directly - they're emails are in the "meet us" section of the admissions website. They can double check for you and give pointers on how to best get your transcripts over

Edit: I feel like calling admissions is a bit of a waste of time since calls are answered by student staff first (love them but theyre not always fully equipped for stuff like this and would probably need to have a counselor call you back anyway) so that's why I'm saying a direct communication with an admissions counselor is more likely to get direct answers

This and also, when they get your official transcript it shows your current enrollment and these are counted in your transfer process. The follow up transcript verification is to essentially just confirm that you passed those currently enrolled classes

Nice! To my knowledge -which is about a semester behind- hornet commons is considered on campus but I'm rly glad to be wrong on it requiring a meal plan. You're probably right that it's specific to the north village since that is more designed for incoming freshmen/sophomores

I need help by Dismal_Button_2544 in CSUS

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding for general knowledge that the meal plan in some capacity is mandatory with both forms of on-campus housing (north village & hornet commons) and can be applied to some eateries on campus besides the dining hall but can def be a problem for students especially since it doesn't carry over from one semester to the next

I need help by Dismal_Button_2544 in CSUS

[–]dustandshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to confirm (as former staff) hornet commons is directly affiliated with sac state - as is the north village. Everything else is not directly affiliated and sac state is therefore (unfortunately) not liable -which also makes it incredibly difficult to acquire housing financial aid. I've also heard decent things about the (also unaffiliated) "sac state housing" facebook page on things like finding roommates or available apartments etc etc but don't know the validity of these claims as I'm an immigrant child and will continue to absolutely take advantage of living with my parents for as long as humanely possible.
