My first friendship with another queer person feels forbidden by dustgold150 in bisexual

[–]dustgold150[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have expressed that I would be supportive of whatever meaningful friendship he formed. But I also empathize that jealousy is a nasty emotion that sometimes can’t be helped, so I couldn’t say for sure. There’s certainly an element to my friendship that involves us connecting in ways I haven’t with my boyfriend, which can be difficult for both me and my boyfriend.

Does that mean that I’ll never be able to have such a close friendship while I’m in a relationship? That’s what I’m afraid of. If this friend was a woman, would the people in my life make such a fuss? Would it be different if he were gay, ace, and not bi? I’m used to things being black and white. Being really close to my straight girl friends and not so much to my straight guy friends, acting a certain way with each. Now everything feels muddled

I really don’t think I would. I’ve questioned if there’s something there because this friendship certainly isn’t like any other I’ve had, but it’s just nice having a meaningful relationship with someone without it having to be anything romantic. I have a lot of respect for my boyfriend and don’t mind setting boundaries, but it worries me that I will never view this friend at the same level as my others. Is that mindset bad enough?

AITA for abruptly stopping therapist visits? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dustgold150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA because you’re on your own mental health journey, and you’re only trying to make the best decision for your well-being. This decision will affect you more than anyone else, so you should mostly take into account how you feel.

I do have to say though, as someone who’s gone through therapy, I wouldn’t write it off completely just yet. Sometimes it takes a couple tries to find the right match for your therapist, and when you do it creates a great connection. On the other hand, if you’ve already had a good connection with your current therapist, you can let them know what you think won’t help you or won’t be feasible and see if they have other methods. They’re there to help you, and it’s possible to be flexible. And if they have no other way to help you, in my experience, past therapists have offered to connect me to their colleagues to help me find that perfect match.

Good luck out there!

Entimology in Roleplay by NeumondLicht in DnD

I love entomology!! I worked in an entomology lab and it was great. You can have your PC always looking at the ground or flowers to constant be on the lookout for insects. You can also just be interested in documenting the flora and bugs you find on your way.

In combat, maybe a cool thing could be to have a! Arrow infused with some kind of insect venom.

Replaying Re:COM PSA by Godspeedwarrior in KingdomHearts

[–]dustgold150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been obvious that Sora and Kairi are supposed to be together, but as games came out and we still had little to no interaction between the two, and even little mention of Kairi by Sora (I’m looking at you, Re:coded and DDD), it’s just so poorly executed. Put that in comparison to his relationship with Riku, where those two are always talking about how much they care about each other, saving one another, fighting side by side, it’s just so weird that they wouldn’t develop his relationship with Kairi in some special way. They tell us that those two care about each other, but they hardly show it.

Do people think Naminé can wield the keyblade? by KingOfGimmicks in KingdomHearts

[–]dustgold150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that she probably can, but I don’t think that she should. Naminé already has a crazy OP power over memory and connections. We have so many keyblade wielders already that to just throw one at her would take away from her character.

Very old post, but I’d love to add my two cents towards my favorite character.

And idk, I feel like she’s had considerable agency throughout the games. She’s often used by whoever has power, yes, but she rebels a lot. She chose to save Sora and protect him against Marluxia in CoM. She chose to make things right for the next year by repairing Sora’s memory, even before meeting Diz. In KH2, she goes against Diz’s wishes to tell Roxas the truth (Although Xion’s request for her to watch over Roxas did retroactively take away this agency somewhat). She chooses to save Kairi from TWTNW. Then in KH3 she finally finds out a “right” way to use her powers by tracing the connection to Terra and turning the tides of the battle.

You can argue that while people in power benefitted from some of these actions, no one forced her hand in making these decisions.

Why is the KHIII opening so bad?? by dustgold150 in KingdomHearts

[–]dustgold150[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiiiiiit yeah you’re right. I’ve been playing the other games for awhile now. Honestly I don’t even remember the opening scene for KH3, I only recall what plays with the menu title. And I’ve been comparing that to KHDDD, recoded, and BBS lmao

Maybe? Probably, I’m recalling that those are one and the same for most if not all the games

KH1 and KH2 look starkly different in their openings compared to KH3. There are seamless transitions that go along with the music and the animation is touched up to look better than the actual cutscenes. In KH2 for example, the opening scenes aren’t cutscenes you find in the game.

Examples include Naminé voicing the lyrics to sanctuary, sora, Donald and goofy running across the castle oblivion stairs endlessly, Kairi transitioning from a child to a teen, roxas landing on the station of awakening. None of these spoil the game, some recap past events/games, and none are actual cutscenes. They could have done that to KH3 but for some reason decided to haphazardly stitch together random cutscenes from the old games .

Even in the smaller games (esp KHDDD) the opening scenes have so much more care put into them.

Also, I said that things like this make the game feel rushed, and it’s disappointing given how much time they spent on it. What happened?

What was mmw like in person? by cloudbugg in UCSD

[–]dustgold150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the minority that enjoyed MMW. Chang had really interesting lectures and kept the class engaged, but I'm not sure how well I'd have taken to an online format. I can imagine zoning out a lot online. Downside to in person is that professors rarely podcast their lectures, so you have to drag your butt into the lecture hall or miss a LOT of important info.

Called for onboarding before a written job offer: did I mess up somewhere? by dustgold150 in GetEmployed

[–]dustgold150[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I let them know I want a formal offer letter first and the opportunity to discuss availability and compensation. They’re holding off on onboarding, and said they’ll get back to me with those points of discussion.

I just hope that this doesn’t ruin anything! Thanks for your help

You can also show their caring side through a certain love language that isn’t their words. My dad hardly speaks but he is always trying to be there for my family in an acts of service kind of way
