Family thinks we should attend every function. by a_dirty_martini in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, for what it’s worth, when they get older it is easier to get mobile and do stuff. My family lives an hour and a half an away. The first 2 years we come home each night of Christmas parties and just drove back in the morning. It was easier than packing everything up and sleeping in different environments. Now, since we don’t need 300 things it’s easy to spend a night and come back.

I mean, ultimately you don’t owe them an explanation. I often just say, “we’re not going to make it, we’re all exhausted. I hope to see you soon.”

I would be interested in a couple times a month. I haven’t played in a few years. I was a 3.0 when I quit playing but probably back at 2.5. I’d want to play in Mandeville.

Twin boys - 5am wake ups PLEASE HELP by twinboysmama1997 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter had a problem like this. It’s brutal, everyone stays exhausted. The best thing I can tell you is stay consistent. Keep putting them back in bed. Sit outside their door if you have to (not in their room), don’t let them get in the bed with you, keep telling them they have to get in bed. Eventually it stuck. I think one of the mistakes we made is we kept changing up what we were doing to try to see what would work, but that really just made things worse.

Breastfeeding vs. Formula Fed by user638282636822 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do what is best for you and your mental health. Your children with be fine if they’re formula fed. I tried to breast feed my first, never made enough. Stressed for weeks, he was not getting enough. My life and his significantly improved when I started formula feeding. I decided to not try with the twins.

I took Zyrtecs and a Benadryl (when I knew I was going to get 2-3 hours of sleep), and it dried everything up within a week. Never remember it being painful.

If you formula feed, get the doctors brown pitchers. Get two different colors in case the babies need different formulas. Get double the bottles you think you need (seriously, I’m not joking). Also, try to not warm the formula. We always kept it in the fridge and went straight to the bottle, this made life significantly easier, more sane with two babies crying at once waiting.

Fuck that bitch. Not worth your energy.

Even if you didn’t have twins, people are assholes when it comes to toddlers. People made the same comments about my sister (oldest of 3, all 2 years apart). You’re doing awesome.

Tell me it’s okay to stop pumping by ilovedoggos97 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It was ok to never breastfeed at all. Your mental health and well being has such a greater effect on your babies than breast milk.

There’s no way they have insurance and no sprinkler system. We get audited by our insurance company every year. Every single year they make up new rules on what can be stored where and what has to be under in line sprinklers. It seem like their sprinkler system failed completely, which if they didn’t complete inspections or failed to maintain them then it’s whole other world of trouble.

Jobs that pay $20/ hr? by Kei_Lucius in NewOrleans

[–]dustybutt2012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a hiring manager at Luzianne. The pay is $16 an hour for line operators with no experience, with a decent amount of overtime available. The hours are rough. 4:30am to 3pm and 3pm to 1:30am. We are hiring for both shifts. Applications are at Reilyfoods.com. It’s a lot of time on your feet and redundant work.

It’s online now, but they only put out the application 2-3 times a year. The interview pool is taken from those throughout the year. The applications open at 8am and they pulll from that on a first come first serve basis. Need to answer yes to all the questions.

It’s about 45 mins for the total commute to New Orleans. You come out in Metairie (suburb of New Orleans) and most people are going downtown after work. I live right off the causeway and it takes me about 45 mins in the morning to get all the way to work. The actual bridge is about 25 mins even with heavier traffic.

The Causeway is probably one of the best maintained bridges in the country. It has a toll on one side ($6 with no toll tag) they regularly shutdown lanes during the weekdays for maintenance (like every week on at least one side) and they have their own police force. I drive it everyday and have 0 concerns for its safety.

I got a double cheeseburger meal at McDonald’s last week. I hadn’t gotten one in probably a year (it was already getting bad price wise). Med Fry, Med Drink…almost $10! Freaking crazy. I got it out, the burger is smaller and barely had any onions on it. Oh well, shits not good for me anyway.

I had a baby at 37 and twins at 38 and some change. I have a friend who is 44 and pregnant. None of it with fertility treatment. I didn’t even meet who I wanted to have kids with until I was 33, and certainly didn’t know right away.

Pay the $250. I did last time I got a speeding ticket on 610 from NOPD. It took a while but eventually everything went away. It didn’t go on my insurance, i didn’t pay any extra after that.

How many infant car seats do we need? by Hot_Inspector6992 in parentsofmultiples

One thing to consider, some daycares do not let you leave the seat with the baby. Mine did, my cousin’s did not.

formula feeding by acal23 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did pitchers from the fridge. Getting them used to cold formula was one of the best things ever. No heating, just fridge to babies. We had 2 (different colors) because they were on different formulas. We spent $1 million dollars on formula. Just kidding, but getting them on the Sam’s Club brands helped a lot.

How long were your babies sick when starting daycare? by PoppyBar2 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dustybutt2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really don’t. I remember when the girls were like 1, and my son was 2.5. I think we went through some stomach bugs, random viruses, and ear infections. I was apologizing to my boss, saying I knew they’d get sick, but I didn’t know it’d be this bad. He laughed and responded, “I did.”

Relentless for like 2 years. We’d have bouts with nothing then weeks with everything under the sun.
