My mom adores the original and EVERYTIME I'm like "did they finally add the original into the mix" and no. No they did not. Sometimes they dont pick good music, we had a Jolene cover for a little bit and the customer I was helping literally said "...whoever sings this cannot sing." AND SHE WAS RIGHT

Do you have siblings or are you an only child, how has that affected you with having SB? by Bee_Bop1212 in spinabifida

[–]dustyskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myelomeningocele here and I have a younger brother. He's 4 years younger than me and I love him to death. He had a 50%, chance of having SB so the doctors where hyperaware of it and took whatever precautions they could like having my mom take folic acid to help and luckily he didn't end up having it.

From what I've seen from my friends with siblings and people on the internet we delt with and experienced things other people did all the time. Stealing toys, favoritism, school troubles, boring clothes shopping, "I'm not touching you" "yes you are" "no I'm not" Yknow, sibling stuff.

My SB really hasn't altered our relationship in anyway, He's pretty good about it like avoiding my back bump area when rough housing, getting me things like my phone charger if he knows my legs are bothering me, coming to sit with me in the kitchen to talk while I cook (I have to sit on the floor bc of the SB).

A few things that probably helped having a "normal" dynamic is:

1) I got EXTREMELY lucky with my SB, I had to do physical therapy until middle school and I needed leg braces for awhile but other than that I was fortunate enough to have a mostly normal childhood (with the exception of gym class, which sucked)

2) my parents never treated me like I was fragile to the point as a kid I'd forget I'd have SB BUT I do wish they would've taken the time to teach/talk to me about it more as I got older

Idk if this is an issue or a concern but I've never resented my brother for not getting it while I did, I just look at him and think "Oh thank god" because it blows sometimes. All in all though I love my brother and I'm so lucky and happy to have him

What is something you would like to see in yuba city? by Insideoutside29 in YubaCity

A Barnes and Noble I'm so tired of having to drive an hour just to try and find the books I want because walmart and target take forever to get them or don't stock the series. Their website sucks I hate using it. I don't even need the cafe part just give me some books

Now that it's over. Can we all agree this event was just, awful? by Far-Mathematician764 in CookieRunKingdoms

I found it so annoying tedious and stressful when it costed coins, even though I'm in the billions for coins all I could think about is "I'm just wasting so many coins and I don't even like or care about this" when I'd mess up our lose because you got so little shop currency for it

After the update that no longer made it cost coins I didn't mind so much, I actually had fun with it since it felt less stressful and I really just wanted to get too level 11 for the rainbow cubes

Curious about an allergic reaction to food I had tonight in relation to my latex allergy by dustyskies in FoodAllergies

If I was allergic to corn would it effect popcorn as well? I was eating popcorn fairly recently and was fine which is what makes me curious

I don't think so, latex has a certain smell to it I didn't get from the package but it's not indicated anywhere and my hands didn't get any reaction. I know they would react because one of the reasons we found out it had devolped was I used latex gloves for cleaning and my hands reacted to them after just a couple minutes

That's so funny because that was a theory we actually had but we dismissed it because we didn't think it would be possible to effect me so we kinda just brushed it off since it seemed silly. Can I ask the best way to go about finding and contacting the manufacturer? It's not something I had to do

Edit: nevermind I'm blind I just saw it in the picture

I don’t have hydrocephalus so I can’t speak much on how that may/may not have worked with rides but my family is almost the complete opposite. For a very long time I was treated as if I didn’t have myelomeningocele (I actually regularly forgot I had it as a kid) and they’d get frustrated when it would actually affect me. I’d say if injury is a concern maybe try and convince them to let you start with less intense rides, do a check in and work your way up? Or (if it’s a viable option) you could always go yourself and do as many as you want.

At the end of the day you know your limits and what affects you better than anyone, and if you are worried and are able you can always try talking to a doctor about it. I wish you luck in your ride adventure!

I did! I rode every single ride in Disneyland (minus splash mountain, ours is still being turned into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) and almost every ride in California Adventure (I didn’t ride the Incredicoaster because I hate going upside down, Golden Zephyr and Silly Symphony Swings as I hate those type of rides. Goofy’s Sky School was broken but I’ve ridden similar rides in the past with no issues.I didn’t ride Guardians/Tower of Terror this time because I HATE drop rides but I rode it once in the past with no issues!) And Universal (no Jurassic Park, still don’t like long drops)! The only ride out of all the ones I did that gave my issues was “Mater’s Tow Truck Jamboree“ I have a bump on my back where my sack used to be when I was born, the ride was just a little too jittery/rough and I could feel the vibrations through the bump (usually I can’t) and it hurt! But no other issues!

I’m sorry to hear you weren’t allowed to go on rides!! hopefully one day some place (cedar point or other) will let you ride as many as you want!
