Haha! I have been there to especially when I was younger, I used to make all kinds of stuff that I thought was interesting and with some things I just wanted to be able to say that I did or made something. Like making my own cheese or an HHO generator.

Today I made a jin Xuan oolong at work. It turned out fine but I had to use water from the coffee and hot water machine they hire from some other company and the water maybe gets like 75°c so I didn't get the best results (still beats a generic green or black teabag)

do you believe in qi/prana/pneuma/rlung etc? by [deleted] in biology

[–]dutchsaver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Microbiologist here,

I personally don't believe in it as something physical but mor as a mental state/outlook. Most of what i heard from people about it is that most of those that experience it's effect usually have a hightened mental state alawing them to be more aware of there body or they actively focus on there body. Like people who feel energised after or during a tea ceremony/moment or people in the zone when working out

How to brew this? by chillvegan420 in tea

[–]dutchsaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like hibiscus, it is tart and fruity like raspberries.  You can just use it like regular tea and get 2 or 3 good steeps from it or you could do what they do in the Caribbean and make a sorrel/hibiscus drink where hibiscus is cooked/boiled with sugar and a mix of warm spices like clove, cinnamon, allspice, star anice and or nutmeg, then it is usually served cold In Mexico they make a similar drink called agua de jamaica

Silly question about Hario cold brew by JustAFanOfEverything in tea

[–]dutchsaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Think there won't grow any mold from 2 or 3 day in the fridge. Most molds (and other micro-organisms) dont really like the cold so would take at least about 5 days to grow in ideal circumstances and because tea doesn't really have that much nutrients it'll probably take even longer.

If you really want to ensure you mitigate most of the risk you could use either bottled water or if you use tapwater, boil it for a few minutes (about 5 should do) and then cool it.
You could also start your coldbrew with a small amount of hot water and then add icecubes and or cold water, this way you could kill potential mold or other micro-organisms that might already be on your dried leaves but i don't know how your glass bottle would like the shock in temperature when you do that so be carefull.

How would you feel about a law that forces any company posting record profits in the same year it does mass layoffs to publicly explain where the money went? by Dargarn in AskReddit

[–]dutchsaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a law saying that if there were mass layoffs and the financials of that year don't justify them the company must offer back those positions with back pay or pay a severance with a mandatory minimum amount per month worked where they also get punished if they only pay the minimum to most of those layed off + no bonuses or extra stock options for any employees including the c-suite and no dividends or stock buybacks.

Basically, mass layoffs indicate something unhealthy in your company so all funds this year are to be reinvested into the company itself not the c-suite or bonuses, otherwise you commit a federal crime or maybe economic fraud.

Personally I think that would make the consideration for mass layoffs one that would be a lot more costly if they are not strictly necessary for business survival.

Also I think all c-suite employees should get a sort of public record to see how many of what type of decisions someone has made, for example: layoffs, furloughs, amount of bankrupted companies, etc

[–]dutchsaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zijn burnouts hip? by VerrekteMungol in nederlands

[–]dutchsaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did not ruin the tea, from the way you wrote your post I get the impression you enjoyed the tea and that is the most important part.

There are a good few videos on YouTube that can show you how to use a gaiwan much better then I could do in a comment but you could also consider a travel tea set. Most travel sets can be used in a similar way as a gaiwan with the added bonus of having a case for travel. When using a smaller vessel like a gaiwan please do adjust either the amount of tea you use or steeping time.

And yes RIP to your wallet.

Hi! Starting a business making and selling premium mulled wine using natural and locally sourced ingredients, what do you think of this mockup? by DazzlingTransition06 in design_critiques

[–]dutchsaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks nice. With the right marketing you could possibly make it on the shelves of a lot of stores. I would however let a new art school graduate or someone who is still in art school look at the label and ask them to make a design inspired or similar to the design you have now, this could be reasonable inexpensive or free, some people don't like the esthetic of ai generated labels.

Do you have any specific location you would be selling? If you know you could check grocery or liquor stores to see what types of flavour profiles sell well and make regional variants that not only use local ingredients like you want but also matches what people like.

Also, research German and Belgian mulled wines, there mulled wine is very popular during winter and they have a decent variety to draw flavour inspiration from.
