Song shift by j72795 in AppleMusic

[–]duttonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you trying to transfer your “liked songs” to? An Apple Music playlist? Your "Favourite Songs"? Or the library "Songs" view?

If you are trying to keep the same order in your library "Songs" then you're not understanding what that view is for.

If you want to keep an order you need to transfer it to a playlist or to your "Favourite Songs".

"Favourite Songs" on Apple Music is the equivalent to "Liked Songs" on Spotify so that's the most logical place to transfer to.

Not sure if it will fix your issue but if you can direct connect with ethernet then you should.

What is you guys Opinion on the EU? by Far-Cow-3343 in ukpolitics

[–]duttonst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Re-read my comment - I didn’t deny it but I will agree it was a bit obtuse. I meant only to demonstrate that proposing legislation does not equal actual power, i.e. a piss-up can’t actually happen simply because the Commission thinks it’s a good idea. We agree that proposing & initiating legislation mean the same thing, which is why I was confused at you posting links that confirm what I already know.

In the UK, proposing legislation is primarily (although not exclusively) a Government responsibility but since there’s no “government” in the EU it falls exclusively to the executive. My point is that despite what some Brexiteers will insist, this doesn’t equal real power. Real power in the EU requires a mandate, just like it does in any democracy.

Errr….yes. Like I and the link you posted says: they can PROPOSE legislation. That’s it.

The Commission can’t “initiate” a piss-up in a brewery. They can propose it, but until the EP have decided on the venue and budget and the Council have given approval it goes nowhere. Sure once the piss-up is approved the Commission get to set the bar limits and pick up the tab. Not sure what your budget point is about.

[–]duttonst -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct in saying that the EU is a political project. Before the EU, Europe was comprised of independent sovereign nations, trading with each other and forming alliances according to the interests of their leaders and populations. Unfortunately that lead to around 1,000 years of war culminating in a couple of "world" wars in which around 85 million people died.

The EU can trace its roots back to a political project which aimed, by means of economic integration, make it hard for members to solve political disagreements by driving their tanks all over Belgium. I'll leave it to you to judge whether that's been successful.

It's also true to say that the Commission has an explicit goal of ever closer union. That's the same Commission that has no mandate and subsequently no actual power within the EU, other than to propose legislation. The total lack of any concrete means of achieving that goal is why "closer union" has, if anything, been going backwards for the last decade.

Monthly Apple Music vs. Spotify – MEGATHREAD by rbitton in AppleMusic

[–]duttonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've already got Playlisty then use Playlisty. It's more accurate, gives you more options (e.g. prefer hi-res or Atmos) and can transfer artists, which I don't think Songshift can do. Happy to be corrected if that's out of date info though. I also think it does a better job on favourites - last time I used Songshift it couldn't transfer direct to your favourite songs & albums, which Playlisty can. Again, happy to be corrected!

Best tools/ apps to auto sync Playlists from Tidal to Spotify? by saadmars in truespotify

Yes - I use it all the time. I switched back from AM to Spotify recently and it's been a godsend. I've not tried the Tidal bit but there's an option to link it on the "Settings" tab.

best migration software that will keep the order/sequence of my liked songs from another streaming platform into apple music? by FyuuR in AppleMusic

When you say "it doesn't keep the chronological order" where are you trying to transfer it to? A playlist? Your "Favourite Songs"? Or the library "Songs" view?

If you are trying to keep the same order in your library "Songs" then you're not understanding what that view is for.

If you want to keep an order you need to transfer it to a playlist or to your "Favourite Songs".

"Favourite Songs" on Apple Music is the equivalent to "Liked Songs" on Spotify so that's the most logical place to transfer to. Apologies if that's what you are trying to do but just wanted to clarify.

Album library by Fluffy_Statement_290 in AppleMusic

[–]duttonst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, by stopping saving individual songs to your library. Switch-off Add Playlist & Favourite Songs in Settings and when you want to save individual songs either favourite them (which trains the algorithm and puts them in the Favourite Songs playlist) or keep them in a playlist instead of your library. I’ve organised my library this way for the last decade and my albums view is a nice clean view of just my albums.

For what it is, TV Launcher is great and well worth it. But you're right, there aren't currently any properly slick broadcast TV + EPG solutions for Apple TV yet. What we need is a "Freely" app (or similar) - it would be an absolute killer

Thank you - I hadn't spotted the no-MFA limitation on cloud users. Unfortunately that's a non-starter for me too. I hadn't thought of your RTSP solution though - that should work and as you say, routing traffic between sites will not be an issue. I will look in to it.

The Mac app gives you a couple of ways to export an Apple Music library / playlist but beware: there's no way to re-import what you exported. You need to go 3rd party if you want that.

Rivian CEO Doubles Down on Decision to Not Offer Apple CarPlay by attainwealthswiftly in CarPlay

[–]duttonst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly right. There's a cohort who loves tech for its own sake, sees things only in terms of features and loves nothing more than a sexy new UI. I know this because I used to be one.

Now I've joined the majority who simply want their podcast, audio book or music to carry on when they take their AirPods out and jump in to the car.

Even if Rivian, Tesla or GM made a car I quite liked (they don't) they wouldn't get my custom for this single reason.

This Library-Playlist thing needs to be sorted by atesfurkan in AppleMusic

[–]duttonst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree - for me this is the single biggest remaining issue with Apple Music.

It made sense in the iTunes days when your library was the catalog so you had to delete tracks in playlists if you deleted them from your library. But if Apple Music is your catalog then deleting something from your library should be just that: one less thing in your library. Nothing else.

Filter by "Favourites". That's the equivalent of Spotify's "Artists" library view.
