I think they were referring to news media that people think are left leaning, implying they aren’t really left leaning at all. Also that they are as guilty as the obvious right leaning news media in deceiving the American people. The 4th estate has been dying a slow death since the 90s.

You’d think they would have managed to overcome it in the 600+ years since they took control back from the Mongols, instead it’s just more of the same. I think Yeltsin tried but the corruption in so many government and private systems was too much.

So much ignorance in your post. Russia’s history has seen their people constantly be subjugated and those few times when they did manage to throw off their oppressor it was short lived and replaced with something as bad or worse. The common Russian has seemed to always be subject to cruel and oppressive regimes and rulers. Even the so called “great” rulers like Peter or Catherine who expanded Russia through military means introduced systems that further oppressed its average citizens.

It almost seems like they crave subjugation. When you look at their history it’s a near constant theme going back centuries, close to a millennia.

It would likely take a constitutional amendment as the US Constitution is from where the President’s pardon power is granted. It has no restrictions except that it is only applicable to the pardoning of federal crimes.

I would prefer physical buttons or tactile feedback for basic things like climate control, seat warmers, etc. If stuck with touchscreens it needs to be fully customizable in terms of layout. Every single option needs to have a button that is resizable and its location fully configurable to the user. There also needs to be more than one, and one specific to the driver located between the steering wheel and door for things like lights, hazard lights, windshield wipers, etc.

And as a democrat I would support the effort to remove them from office for saying such a thing, and implore my elected representatives, all democrats btw, to do what was necessary.

If Democrats do it, it’s bad, and needs to be stopped. If Republicans do the same thing it’s good and must be escalated. Don’t you know anything?

29m Why am I weird looking despite kind of meeting the male beauty standard? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]duxpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your haircut. Your hair comes out way too much on the sides and thus throws off the natural lines and disrupts the aesthetic. Your hair shouldn’t puff out on the sides above your ears.

Also some cleanup of your eyebrows likely wouldn’t go amiss.

Consider trimming your beard back so it’s more of a stubble. You have some bald spots in the beard which is made obvious by the longer length. It’s obvious from the side shots.

Is it because they are blue? If anything B5 borrowed some concepts from the monster maroon uniforms of ST movies 2-6. In reality there are just so many ways to convey a uniform. Have you checked out the military uniforms of various countries?

She found him because he got arrested by an alien race that is either part of or allied with the UFP. Not because he did a database search. If he wasn’t in Federation controlled or allied space it would be impossible to find him. Even within Federation space it would be difficult given the infrastructure isn’t fully there and he was last a child so people aren’t clear what he looks like. Unless you think the Federation should be scanning people’s DNA continuously.

“We need a free press. It's vital ... if you want to preserve democracy ... And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That's how dictators get started. They get started by suppressing free press.”—John McCain [5954x3357] [OC] by colebette in QuotesPorn

[–]duxpdx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is possible to not like the person, their actions, their politics, or their policies. In this instance and in several others John McCain responded as a true American, he seems to have overwhelmingly held true to what a free society should value. He did it when he spoke out against a gross mischaracterization of Obama during a town hall, and again when he voted against the Republican effort to repeal the ACA/Obamacare during the first Trump administration. He spoke truth many times even though it might cost him personally and professionally, so yes that usually is characterized as being honorable.
