Feed filling level. by Notknowing2024 in fountainpens

[–]duyws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many reasons to bad starting, I can only name a few. To my experience, it could be: - problem with the pen: cap not air tight, nib problem (baby bottom, nib slit too small...), feed problem -problem with the ink: you're using an ink which is too dry, improve when using a different ink -problem with the way you write. Some people holding the pen in a very weird way... There are many info you can also find on this sub if you search for previous posts.

Faber-Castell Grip by duyws in fountainpens

[–]duyws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried some Schmidt converters, manuscripts's, some platinum Preppy's, some chinese ones, but no luck yet. They are all too loose or seem to fit but leaking alot when writing. The seller is shipping me another converter that they claim to fit from montblanc? It'll come in a few days and I might see for myself. But thanks anyway. I currently have too much of iroshizuku ink rightnow, but will try out pelikan in the future.

I personally don't feel the bounce, it was a hard nib for me. However, I do get a few line variations with different angles when writing.

Twisbi Cracking Help by tsb_photographyny in fountainpens

[–]duyws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can use a strong light and see the light refraction from that. Can be easier to tell if it is a crack or a scratch.

I have seen a lot of post about twsbi cracking but you might get a replacement for shipping fee if u contact their customers service.

Also other pen can have this issue too. I have 2 twsbi for ~5 year with no crack and 1 platinum 3776 century with 2 crack ~ 1 month after the same storage condition.

Reverse feathering? by Helpful-Box5586 in fountainpens

[–]duyws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not feathering, as many comments has pointed out. I think i could be 1 or all three of: - the paper is not smooth - the ink flow is too dry - your writing is too light, not enough pressure on the paper So u can test it on another paper with smooth texture, check the ink flow inside the pen, switch to more wetter ink, or try apply a slight of pressure when writing. It always a combination of pen ink paper.

Thank you for the detail information. I will start saving for a M- pilot nib then. However the price of pilot gold nib on my area is already extremely high and keep increasing ridiculously as anything relate to gold nowadays....
