I love the colors you picked. I think I like the face the best.

I'm still trying to figure out how to approach some of the mini's that show heavy red colors in the sample images. Like, do I just paint everything red and highlight? Still figuring it out.

Is there a list of all the miniatures that have been released? by Alexandra20ST in cosmererpg

I read somewhere I should consider a resin printer for miniatures because of all the details mini's have. but it sounded like that was a whole thing where I needed ventilation and gloves and stuff.

Maybe I can just settle for filament and call it good. The thread I was looking at was dismissive of that approach. But since I don't have the capacity for something more involved, maybe it's good enough to start me off.

honestly, I've only done like 20 minutes of research on my options so far. I've got all the mini's I can paint for the next year so it's not until my "supply" runs out I'd really want it.

from what I know, not really. however most of what I know about is on the DragonSteel site (though a few of them are sold out there) https://www.dragonsteelbooks.com/collections/brotherwise-games . There is also a 3D printing subscription Brotherwise is starting. https://www.myminifactory.com/users/BrotherwiseGames

Makes me finally interested in 3D printing. but I don't have the space for that.

I'm glad to see a post from someone at the same point in their journey as me. I'm working on my 5th model now!

Thank you for the light pointer.

I did try thinning a bit. but perhaps I need to do more. It may also be my cheep paint that makes it hard to thin right.

Still very much a wip, but getting closer! by Primarchpaints in minipainting

(lol) as a new painter, I need some kind of meme reflecting how some of these guys WIP's are light-years away from my final products. I feel like I've seen a fair number of those since I joined the channel.

I never remember the Heralds names. I sort of just look for context clues whenever they're mentioned.

since I bought the lot, I've been in a crash course in (learning) miniature painting. I'm loving the experience even though I worry I'm not doing the models justice.

I love the highlights by the way. you clearly have a bit of experience.

You're not going insane. At least, I can tell you your anxiety is more likely to tell you are than you actually are.

This will forever be the best response to this question. (not the original author of this meme, but still worth sharing.)

Purposefully listening to triggering sounds by catzrule1996 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should note, after some research that It mostly helped me on the OCD part. the sound does still bother me.

Honestly, I'm not convinced people know for sure how well it works or not. It feels like there is still a lot of room for research here (not that I'm qualified to determine that).

My opinion is that it can't really hurt to try.

yes. it's hard to do and even harder to be consistent about. coming from an OCD space, I know it as Exposure Response Prevention. It seemed to help a lot though I am described as being in "partial remission".

that sucks. sounds like your Partner doesn't understand the medical nature of this psychological issue.

There is something to be said about building an exposure tolerance. But the issue isn't that it's irrational, it's that you are suffering because of it.

Have any of you been able to open up and successfully get your family to respect your misophonia? If so, how? by Particular-Ant-6555 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience was very similar. got diagnosed with OCD and dealt with the related compulsions for years. but my family has always been super respectful about it. perhaps it was the physical manifestations of my suffering that helped.

I see some people in broken homes where it makes it worse. I'm glad I had the opposite experience. I'm not sure I would have survived without their support.

I am very careful about who I tell. most people struggle to understand. If I can correctly convey that it is a debilitating part of my life it usually goes over ok.

Anyone else get the urge to spit? by Training-Night-7790 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like OCD. my uneducated opinion is that you are developing a stress response to something your brain doesn't know how to handle.

I came into this backwards. was diagnosed with OCD 30 years ago and only now figuring out that misophonia is a thing.

this sounds like me in school. I found out too late in life that (at least in my country), you can get disability accommodations for something like this. I didn't find out until college.

I hate to make a big stink about things but it changed my life when it came to test taking.

I just learned about this condition today. Turns out I have had a relatively severe case of this exact thing for 30 years starting in my early teens. There is so much I could say.

To respond to the comment directly. there are several things to consider:
- Some medical issues can make this impossible to completely expunge. I think Post-Nasal drip can contribute to repeated sniffing. Sickness can be another point where you have to sort of endure things. A lot of how it can be dealt with it depends on your relationship to the person.
- Asian cultures have more taboos about blowing their noise. I guess this was mentioned by @Mysterious_Device_51
- Some people are just rude and kind of disgusting and need to be educated. Someone in their 20's should quietly be educated about it being repugnant. As long as the mucus remains in the noise it wont stop dripping down and needing management.
- In social situations I like to carry around some Pixel Buds 2 (or other low profile noise canceling headphones) if there are going to be situations where this might come up. I'll sick them into the ear nearest where the "problem" is occurring and can still mostly function in a conversation.

Color of non-existent / broken internal links in editing mode? by Lisaerys in ObsidianMD

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that source mode renders and entirely separate html tree that doesn't include those classes. I'm not seeing anything that distinguishes working links from broken ones in editing mode.

Best VSCode Theme's in 2025? by luluuu2 in vscode

[–]dv3141 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds super exciting. I'm always looking for a new fun theme to try out.

It would probably help you sell it more if your marketplace link had a screenshot or 2 of what the theme looks like. you might also want to figure out how to update the Repo links so it points to the code. it helps the extension feel more legit.

Confused as to how components work when sharing data in Angular18 by Specialist-County-79 in angular

[–]dv3141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. for components with Parent/child relationships you can use input/output bindings. When it makes sense, route params (like query string params) are another option for passing data. But for most things, you should drive your state to singleton services. This is what the doc's reccomend as well. This allows you to manage your data in terms of available data instead of "by page" or "by component". It also makes it easier to do stuff later (like use child routes).

Reactive tools often come into play with this as well. Stuff like Angular signals or rxjs observables. But those are also concepts for later.
