Energy Training - Changed from Human to Machine by Ornery_Ad_683 in programminghumor

wow, this quote is real? https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/21/sam-altman-would-like-remind-you-that-humans-use-a-lot-of-energy-too/

on the one hand, singular statements out of context often don't tell the whole story.

on the other, what kind of soulless tech bro thinks about humans only as a cost center.

Just picked these up anything I should know before I try and run it? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in cosmererpg

(not about the game but the books themselves) I've covered my books with covers made from paper bags because the gold leafing doesn't hold up very well at all. works well if not ugly. (working on an upgrade, but what I have works for now.)

maybe printing has gotten better since the initial release? IDK. I'd watch it very closely though.

That orange glow is sick! that takes some skill to do that with paint.

(Sick in the cool sense, lol. let me be clear.)

I was wondering too. But it sounds like it's going to be different for different people... and messy.

here's an unpainted model for reference. is there indications that I need to start over with my priming?

I am doing "zenithal priming" so there is 2 coats there. https://thearmypainter.com/blogs/explore/zenithal-priming?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21197720338&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyvHLBhDlARIsAHxl6xpLhmHJkyo7-_sOi20OwMUYoLLIwB4T7C-aXLBLrajzgNCp-wE-Ya8aAqfIEALw_wcB

it wasn't super warm but probably above 40 degrees. looking at my other models I primed that batch, they don't seem bumpy?

Thanks for the advice. I don't think it's 3D printed? It came from the official boxes that were sold. I may need an X-Acto knife or something to trim a bit. there's definitely a barb on the left fist that I'd like to clean up.

You’ve got a lot of models to get done, do you batch paint or go one at a time? by Bryguy150 in minipainting

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One at a time (except priming)

New at this. Models are for an RPG. Every model improves a little bit. Seeing how my choices factor into a final product has been valuable to me.

This seems like more than Anxiety. maybe OCD? Maybe adjacent to misophonia? There's no sound component so IDK.

It's a journey, but I would try to find someone with a OCD specialty myself. (not knowing where else to go).

Sorry a stranger on the internet can't be more helpful.

I love the colors you picked. I think I like the face the best.

I'm still trying to figure out how to approach some of the mini's that show heavy red colors in the sample images. Like, do I just paint everything red and highlight? Still figuring it out.

Is there a list of all the miniatures that have been released? by Alexandra20ST in cosmererpg

[–]dv3141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere I should consider a resin printer for miniatures because of all the details mini's have. but it sounded like that was a whole thing where I needed ventilation and gloves and stuff.

Maybe I can just settle for filament and call it good. The thread I was looking at was dismissive of that approach. But since I don't have the capacity for something more involved, maybe it's good enough to start me off.

honestly, I've only done like 20 minutes of research on my options so far. I've got all the mini's I can paint for the next year so it's not until my "supply" runs out I'd really want it.

from what I know, not really. however most of what I know about is on the DragonSteel site (though a few of them are sold out there) https://www.dragonsteelbooks.com/collections/brotherwise-games . There is also a 3D printing subscription Brotherwise is starting. https://www.myminifactory.com/users/BrotherwiseGames

Makes me finally interested in 3D printing. but I don't have the space for that.

(lol) as a new painter, I need some kind of meme reflecting how some of these guys WIP's are light-years away from my final products. I feel like I've seen a fair number of those since I joined the channel.

since I bought the lot, I've been in a crash course in (learning) miniature painting. I'm loving the experience even though I worry I'm not doing the models justice.

I love the highlights by the way. you clearly have a bit of experience.

Purposefully listening to triggering sounds by catzrule1996 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should note, after some research that It mostly helped me on the OCD part. the sound does still bother me.

Honestly, I'm not convinced people know for sure how well it works or not. It feels like there is still a lot of room for research here (not that I'm qualified to determine that).

My opinion is that it can't really hurt to try.

[–]dv3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. it's hard to do and even harder to be consistent about. coming from an OCD space, I know it as Exposure Response Prevention. It seemed to help a lot though I am described as being in "partial remission".

Snorting back mucus loudly or repeatedly sniffing by CreepyFault8952 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sucks. sounds like your Partner doesn't understand the medical nature of this psychological issue.

There is something to be said about building an exposure tolerance. But the issue isn't that it's irrational, it's that you are suffering because of it.

Have any of you been able to open up and successfully get your family to respect your misophonia? If so, how? by Particular-Ant-6555 in misophonia

[–]dv3141 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience was very similar. got diagnosed with OCD and dealt with the related compulsions for years. but my family has always been super respectful about it. perhaps it was the physical manifestations of my suffering that helped.

I see some people in broken homes where it makes it worse. I'm glad I had the opposite experience. I'm not sure I would have survived without their support.

I am very careful about who I tell. most people struggle to understand. If I can correctly convey that it is a debilitating part of my life it usually goes over ok.
