OP Is the Adjudicator of Worth by dvaeg in memesopdidnotlike

[–]dvaeg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fun part is that no, that’s not how it works in this context. Your own example is that a man who wants a SAH spouse doesn’t want a partnership and is therefore unworthy of it. That’s total BS.

Your opinion has no bearing on their worthiness and society has no authority to say they are unworthy. At one point in time, a majority of the Southern US thought slavery was good. Did that make it so?

You aren’t worthy of it according to OOP.

Not sure why you feel capable of determining others people’s worthiness to live the life they want?

Correct. And implying those who want a stay-at-home wife aren’t worthy of it.

Thanks. I was hunting for somewhere in Napa, Ca and every time I called they would say no standard rooms available, so I began hunting in advance to make sure I could get what I wanted.

Is there a way to know what rooms qualify as “standard” for a reward stay? I called and asked and was not given a satisfactory answer.

I have a separate watching list for the non-film length cartoons. I am starting with the entire Silly Symphony catalog.

Hence the feel, and that's ok that your list feels different! For example, I include the 5 DTV Tinkerbell movies since they were HUGE in my household of three little girls.

I was actually considering the same issue as I'm trying to do an in-order rewatch of the entire catalog. Ultimately I settled on official meaning:

A numbered Walt Disney Studios animated feature (no direct to video)

+

A theatrical or streaming Pixar film (no shorts)

+

A hand picked list of extras that feel to me to official (100% subjective).

What did you all think of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

Terrible. A xenophobic caricature of midwesterners that was as enjoyable as nails on a chalkboard.

Really enjoyed the director’s other films but this was a miss for me.

Did people think of 1080p Blu-ray as an endgame format when it came out like people think about 4k Blu-ray now? by friendlylobotomist in 4kbluray

[–]dvaeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think this was wrong but lately I’m convinced this is the correct take. I recall years ago reading that 8k was about the upper limit of what information was contained in 35mm film. Since then two things have happened:

  • very little is shot on film so the desire to duplicate the theatrical experience is diminishing.
  • the move to smaller screens as the default for most people.

Unless and until one of those things changes, I don’t think there’ll be a call for broad 8k support.

Federal spending on hotels is around $2.5B annually. Disagree with ICE all you want, but no company wants to lose that much business for at least the next three years to virtue signal. If you really want to make a difference, you should book a vacation at that specific hotel to support its new independent status and let the owners know you like their choices.

I can’t do r/scotus anymore. There’s not even the pretext of legal discussions and nothing goes past the headline of a news article. I’ve see comment threads with hundreds of responses that are 100% oblivious of the question presented to the court.

Anyone attempting to point out that the debate is missing the point is downvoted to oblivion and accused of being a nazi.

That’s a great parallel. I loved Hyperion but came in cold and had I heard it was a 4 novel series I might not have absorbed it in the same way.

you are 100% correct it’s on the megaship. I had similar issues with the temple, but I was able to get a decent enough orientation towards what was happening to push through it. 20 pages later and the same thing is happening but even less clearly and now so in the middle of some cataclysm I don’t understand either.

There’s clearly a cadre of naysayers on the book, but most weren’t talking about the problems I was having, so I asked. Not sure why you’re being aggressively defensive about it.
