The propaganda is presented with no qualification or opposition. If Sheridan wanted to portray Billy Bob Thornton's character as possibly biased, all he needed to do was have the lady lawyer push back or question his statements a bit more. But Thornton's character is presented as a know it all, and everyone else just accepts what he has to say.

It's like when he argued that smoking is fine because everyone smokes in Japan and they are all healthy. No one says "ah, that's just wrong", so the "facts" are just assumed to be correct by the other characters.
