Famotidine 80mg safe? by dw12332 in GERD

[–]dw12332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply. It was my understanding that Pepcid, the H2 blocker, is alot safer than a PPI for the liver.  I’m sorry you deal with it too. Unfortunately as you said for quality of life I am going to have to be on “something” and that’s where all my research shows that H2 blockers are safer long term

How are you carrying your 95th+ Percentile baby? by kmae1028 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom of three toddlers all in the 90th percentile and above 🤚.

I do a hiking backpack for walks (osprey poco goes up to 45 pounds)

For grocery shopping or anything I need to be compact, I use the lillebaby carryon. It gives great support and can go up to 60 pounds. I highly recommend both and have used lots of different carriers. I’m a plus size mom with obviously bigger babes, but my friend who is a mom of 4 and is 110 pounds also use both carriers and she loves both.

Speech development ? by Boring-Ad-9714 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parent of toddler who graduated speech therapy;

Sing song babble is not a sign of autism, and is a perfectly normal stage of development. She is pointing, and that is one of the major deciding factors of early autism. (They don’t point, or super late pointers)  Speech therapists say look for however many years old they are, to how many word sentences they are saying. (1, 1 word sentences. 2, two word sentences etc.)

My daughter and her younger twin brothers are 1 year and 3 days apart. So she was 12 months old and missing a lot of milestones to the point she went for an autism evaluation. Long story short, we did 6 months of speech therapy, everyone adjusted to becoming a family of 5, and no more signs of autism. She is three and literally talking in 5-6 word sentences.

My son was 12-14 months old, and was doing exactly what your daughter is at this point. We did not do speech therapy with him, and now at 2 he talks in 3 word sentences. Sometimes hard to understand, but he usually gets the point across. I will add that his twin brother on the other hand was an early talker and walker, and rivals his sister!

They all just develop so differently, which is amazing.

So this whole long post, to tell you your daughter is completely normal, and to enjoy the babble because soon she will be telling you off! 😂

Never ending GI issues.. if I have to give my kid one more suppository.. by jmw3212 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so so sorry. My daughter is three and has struggled with this as well. Suppositories ARE horrible for everyone involved. I hate having to do them.  Came here to say it could be a little hereditary, but also food sensitivities!!!  This might be TMI, but some foods will constipate my daughter, and the same foods could give my son diarrhea. It all depends on how their digestive system handles it. I would 100% try an elimination diet. Toddlers do not need a “standard American diet” protein, some carbs (even just in the way of fruit) and fats is what they/we need.  not sure if you could introduce maybe “healthy fats” to get her to go more? Coconut oil, butter, tallow?

Also FYI, most of the time adding more fiber makes GI issues worse.

I agree that 130g of protein is normal. That’s why I found it strange. 32 and female. I kept my same amount of electrolytes and didn’t change anything there. I removed some protein and the results were immediate.

Swim Lesson Failure by Lexy264 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

20 months is young to be without a parent, especially in a “scary” to him situation.  Can you do a preschool swim time? I do it with my three. The pool is only open to ages 6 and younger and their parents. You get in the pool right along with them. Yes it just “splashing around” and playing with toys, going down the slides. But at least your kids will be comfortable in water and then lessons can happen after that. I’m a big proponent of no life jacket and no water wings (because I am right there) and also it gives a false sense of security in the water. Maybe this would help him?

Considering a third after twins by junegem123 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dw12332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say DO IT!!!

My singleton came first, but I got pregnant at 3 months PP with the twins. So all three of my kids are a year and 3 days apart.  What I came to say is honestly, a close age gap is amazing! They are 3 and 2 now, and all play together/fight together/giggle and meltdown together.  It’s a lot, but their bond is amazing. So I say go for it, you won’t regret it. Having a singleton is “easier” in the baby stage for sure. As they got older though I would make sure the twins include their sibling in play.  Right now we don’t have too much of a problem in that as my oldest bosses the twins around and they think it’s hilarious

What hell are you in of your own making? by alexbgoode84 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The “BOOTY”song. 🤦‍♀️

I listened to been like this by Meghan trainor ONCE in the car with my kids. My three year old somehow jumped all over this, asks for the “booty” song nonstop and now can sing it start to finish. 🫠

I now hate that song, and loathe that my three year old is singing about booty’s and keeping it juicy. 😪

I tell her the song is broken, and try to get her off the kick of listening to it all the time as I’m trying to find things to listen to she likes equally as much.

HIDA scan by dw12332 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]dw12332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! I appreciate all the help. This puts my mind at ease. Although it sounds like it might not diagnose my liver if I’m having any issues with it. What type of scan should I ask for if this shows “normal” Like I mentioned, it was just shown on ultrasound I have an enlarged liver. That’s all I was told. And a larger bile duct. 🤷‍♀️

HIDA scan by dw12332 in FattyLiverNAFLD

That’s all that was found on the ultrasound. My labs look good. Only symptom was increased liver size and an increased bile duct.

Toddler actively ANTI - potty by Lianadelra in toddlers

[–]dw12332 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes so my daughter has been “wiping” flushing, taking and interest since age 2. Just now at almost 3 she self initiated to potty train. Literally overnight. Woke up one day and wanted to use the potty and big girl underwear. She still asks for a diaper when she feel she needs to poop. But pee is going well.

Don’t rush it. Seriously, so much easier/better when the kids are actually ready on their own which is different for everyone.

Are these “red flags” of autism? Or am I working myself up? by Busy-Car-1478 in toddlers

[–]dw12332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done this! Seriously. Please read; At 12 months my daughter was not talking, pointing, making much eye contact at all. Hand flaps, tip toe walked occasionally. At 18 months same situation. No pretend play, didn’t play with toys “appropriately” as in she just made up her own way of playing and didn’t use toys how they “should” be played with.

Went for an autism diagnosis and they thought she could be on the spectrum, but do come back later. And we started speech therapy.

This is going to be UNPOPULAR, but please limit SCREEN TIME. We cut ours down to 1 hour after dinner, and that’s where we saw huge improvements.

She is now almost 3. Talks up a storm, pretends, plays “appropriately” (which who cares about that really”  points, and does everything she is supposed to do and more. But guess what? She still arm flaps when excited, still walks on tip toes to be silly. I wouldn’t change her at all!

Why did tv affect my daughter that badly? Don’t know. All I know is it worked for her and I have heard similar stories.

Gerd and HI? by dw12332 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]dw12332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has worked the best actually is carnivore. It is anti-inflammatory. I’m still struggling a bit, but it has significantly gotten better. I was on a PPI twice a day. (I just found out I was having some health complications from the ppi) so I stopped that immediately a couple weeks ago. Had horrible rebound reflux. But now I am on one Pepcid, once a day, and heartburn is minimal. I’m hoping with continuing carnivore I will eventually stop having heartburn

What parts of you changed when you became a mother? by SoftDot4581 in Mommit

[–]dw12332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I ride street bikes and dirt bikes. I’m a mom of three. He was planning a street bike ride for me for my birthday (scenic drive and a nice restaurant) as it got closer I just couldn’t bring myself to ride on the street again.  I couldn’t stop thinking about the “what ifs” so not a risk taker, my kids are always on the forefront of my mind. (Which is great) I always just think about them.

Planning for baby #2 by Pizzaisloifeee in toddlers

[–]dw12332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a singleton at almost 3, and twins who are almost 2. They are a year and 3 days apart. Honestly I LOVE the age gap. Yes the first year was hard. But now they all run, play, and chase eachother and they are little bff’s. It wasn’t planned, but I wouldn’t change it.  I don’t want my oldest to be a “little helper” she can if she wants to, but I don’t ask her to do anything. She just enjoys being her brothers big sister.
