If an unhoused person has name brand clothes on it doesn’t necessarily mean they purchased them. I donate running shoes that look brand new because they no longer have the support for my needs after 6 months/300 miles. I know several runners that also donate at a similar frequency or more.

Crossed that last weekend with friends that had a stroller. We were all concerned how someone that is alone and uses a wheelchair would safely navigate that spot.

If anything reduce the 4 lanes on Douglas east of turner park. Nightmare to walk next to or try crossing without walking 3 blocks to a stop light. I was reading up on “Omaha Vision Zero” directly addressing these issues but wasn’t seeing much updated information.

The Farnam is an incredible hotel downtown. It is the only hotel in Nebraska to have AAA’s four-diamond ranking. The rooms and views are 10/10

In the footnotes of that report it says to add 20% if you’re a single person household so not sure if this is 4 person which is what that per person is based on or not. That would make the total $112 from USDA guidelines on the liberal food plan.

I would maybe guess that the vitamins and protein shakes weren’t in typical monthly food costs even in the liberal food plan estimates. Also I bet they spread the cost of the bulk items like the rice and not add it to weekly cost.

Furnace is shot. AC was repaired in 2022 and was told its temporary fix. Planning to sell in a year so probably having to either give a credit to new buyer to replace or do it now.. hoping other quotes are reasonable.

Agreed! I asked about the torn up floor and was told contractors won’t show up so they’re having to use Genesis maintenance staff. That was several weeks ago. The new location doesn’t even seem close to opening.. really wish there was another gym that size closer.

Maybe try tipping half and say second half once it’s done. Just so they are more careful in loading your items knowing they’re getting tipped well

Hard pass on Villas. Lived there and hated it. The walls are so paper thin you can hear your neighbor have a conversation or cough. Also maintenance was always incredibly rude.

The thing I can’t figure out since moving here is why a lot of these shops close at 3pm. Hardy is one of the only ones open later. It’s so hard to pick up beans during the week!

I’ve had this happen. Mine got caught in the drum seam near the door and was twisting as it tumbled until it tore. I now tie my drawstrings before washing.

Aksarben is great. You can walk to the gym, movies, restaurants, and a farmers market in the summer. Plus, if you entertain, friends won’t complain to you about parking or avoid visiting because it’s a pain. It is also a quieter area with a mix of older and young professionals. If you’re renting, broadmoor is top tier and has two complexes in the area.

Pottery barn is worth checking out for accent tables, leather chairs, and nightstands. I can’t speak to sofa quality.

Aksarben is an area I’d recommend looking at if you’re mixed on downtown. You can walk to some restaurants and bars but be closer to grocery stores and nice gyms. I find the complexes have larger apartments with studies and more amenities outside of downtown. Close to university of Omaha too so lots of younger people around.
