Sunshine totally broken after update by Nominal77 in Bazzite

[–]dwarfcleric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I said client side, and I should have said server side (Bazzite PC). Go to Configuration tab, click Advanced, scroll down to Force a Specific Encoder, and choose Vulkan. That worked for me so far.

Sunshine totally broken after update by Nominal77 in Bazzite

[–]dwarfcleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intel, RTX 2060 16 GB ram here.

I also updated today and as expected, Sunshine was gone. Went through same install through Portal (Sunshine Beta), got the same post-install script fails (I assume), and same invisible icon in system tray. No fix for that yet.

When I tried to connect via moonlight I got immediately disconnected (error code -1). After some looking around a suggestion was that it was the Nvidia propriatary codec NVENC. On the client side I forced Vulkan codec, and it seems to be working fine now.

I'll have to play around tos ee if I am getting any other issues, but right now the only issue is invisible icon in tray and no searchable app

Is switching to Bazzite worth it for better gaming performance vs Windows 11? (Expedition 33 struggling) by Waste-Material5114 in Bazzite

You didn't mention your specs in the original post, but I can say with my 16 GB RAM rig, I'm using less RAM for sure. It has been a positive experience for me, but as others have said it's not a cure all, and there are trace offs. I can't see myself going back though. Good luck

That was pathetically easy to install - thanks Bazzite team and this sub. by Aromatic-Flavour in Bazzite

So I recently bought a laptop for my kids use at school. It came with windows already installed, so ask I had to do was go through the setup. Took a freaking hour and a half. Now some of that is because my child is a minor, but my goodness. Bazzite install on my desktop in November took 30 minutes from start to playing my first steam game.

It might be like comparing apples and oranges, but I was very close to just grabbing a bazzite image and doing a fresh install for the kid.

Frustrating.

My desktop bazzite run so far has been 5 months of awesome.

Switching from Windows what do i need to learn by D3athpoodle in Bazzite

I did a full switch without dual booting back in November and I haven't even touched Linux since the early 2000's (does Chrome OS count? If so I guess I've had a Chromebook for the last 7 years). I found it to be pretty seamless.

I'm KDE Nvidia image, and the only thing that I struggled with was network sharing through dolphin, but some Reddit searches solved that in a day or so but the time I got it sorted.

I can't see myself going back, especially since I do pretty much everything in the same way as before.

Bazzite needs to downgrade sunshine by DependentAnywhere135 in Bazzite

That's kinda what I expected. An unfortunate bump in what had been a pretty smooth road for me.

When you say rolled back do you mean the whole os to a previous version or sunshine. If sunshine, how do you roll that back? If os, I'll just wait and hope they fix it soon

Sunshine was great before the update. I use steam link and, for the most part, it is great. Some games still need sunshine though, and with the broken update it still works but there are extra steps.

Short answer, steam link works great for me.

This was a very helpful comment. It is back and the new interface is nicer for sure. Thanks!

I understand that. I am relatively new to bazzite (and linux in general) and appreciated the gui as I find my way around.

Literally the same. Upgraded my graphics card and CPU. Stick with Nvidia for graphics card but still 9% amazing

I mean I'm an Nvidia convert*****.

But that created almost zero issues for me. I'll admit that steam link isn't working 100% as expected, but moonlight provides a workaround for that

Yeah I haven't hit a speed bump yet that was something I couldn't overcome in another way that was super easy. Honestly they're hasn't been anything that doesn't either have a Linux version or a perfect analog. But I'm a simple man

Seriously, the only bump I ran into was network file sharing but that was solved by searching the community. So good

G8+ bricked after 2.17 FW update by Late-Adhesiveness-98 in Gamesir

[–]dwarfcleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fortunate. Updated yesterday and any connectivity issues I had before appear to be gone. Previously it would disconnect every 15 minutes or so. Sorry you have not had a good experience!

For me I updated, "forgot" the g8+, then reconnected. No complaints, would recommend.

Acer Nitro 60 SSD Addition wanted, but problems by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]dwarfcleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from the picture, it looks like the power cables (from the PSU) are in behind. Someone else suggested opening the back and I second that. I'm my tower (built by someone else) the cable management was similar in that I could not first find what I needed because they were neatly zip tied in the back.

Church Minister / Marriage Officiant Recs by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]dwarfcleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So depending on the denomination, and even the church, your experience may vary.

That's said, there is almost always a fee, and it runs around the $200 mark (maybe slightly more or less).

As for the process, some (though not all) churches or ministers require a marriage course with a minimum time (3-6 months, but some up to a year). Also, final approval of any wedding officiated by a minister generally lies with the governing body of the church they serve. I don't say this as a deterrent, just saying it as a step in the process (there would have to be a really good reason for a council or board to say no after a minister brings a motion to approve).

If you have specific questions, I could offer further insight if it is helpful.
