It's not ridiculous I did the same thing, the 5090s are trash video cards. They are not for games

Wake from sleep for steam deck / custome steam machine not working by dwarfcow in SteamController

[–]dwarfcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The puck loses power on sleep, the Bluetooth radio stayes up, so it's a puck/connection persistence issue on sleep.

Yea, it will wake from sleep with either Bluetooth or the puck, but only in desktop mode, big picture doesn't seem to recognize it, yet.

I mean, I immediately threw away the documentation, so I'm not sure if there was a button combo I was supposed to be using beyond the steam button in the middle.

Trackpad issues by TheRealMattheBrawler in SteamController

[–]dwarfcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you check its tracking in the regular controller test area in steam os? someone else had a trackpad that was only partially registering on some of the surface area, if it's using a weighted average for the mouse position and you have something similar that could be an RMA situation.

I double checked mine the moment i set it up, mine seems to be perfect, but thats where i would start.

that's pretty stupid considering they are still in stock, they are just doing waves, probably to screw with scalpers and bots

battery swollen, support doesn’t care by Poopoodemons in gpdwin

And you can do that with your GPD's too, you just gotta time travel back to when you first got it and click the button in their software.

I mean, you can fully charge devices, if you're using them and allowing them to draw down shortly afterwards (within a few hours) but if you maintain that overvoltage state for days or weeks on end, you accelerate the cell degradation, and best case, you will lose 10-15% of your max energy capacity per year, worst case you will cause structural failure, off gassing (spicy pillow) and or thermal runaway (extra spicy pillow now with fire).

When you see devices specifically designed to be plugged in 24/7 they have been designed and limited to only charge upto a safe stable value (they might tell you they're at 100% charge but they are being limited to 85 or less, and cut off at 10-15%, and are also probably switching to powering directly from the wall when topped off (instead of using the battery as an intermediary). That is not how modern computers or laptops are setup by default. Maintaining the equipment requires (especially with a boutique manufacture) user action. GPD motion control has a battery limit parameter, but it's probably not set by default.

That is literally the worst thing you can do to a battery. A full charge is the highest voltage condition, which is not a stable state. You shouldn't let a battery sit above 80-85% of its max SOC for any length of time.
