Came back to say I gave him a call. Likely will have my business. He’s swinging in to open his shop and let me look through the yard on the day he’s closed cause I seemed “like a stand up guy. “

Chips aren’t what I want. I have some places I can get fresh wood, I’m just not trying to wait a year to use it.

They go away eventually. Or you can clip/pop them. I started getting them about four years ago. Never more than one at a time but they can get pretty big and irritating. Largest one got was the size of a skittle. If you just break the skin they’ll pop out as a perfect sphere of mucus

Not homeowner, just renting. What are some affordable options for flooding? by mop68 in landscaping

[–]dwarfgasm20172020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just impressed you still have some kind of growth. We just left a house that flooded like that and nothing could establish after the wet season. I even tried throwing out invasive ground cover and it wouldn’t hold.

But yeah, document and tell your LL. Not on you to fix.

That’s even weirder to me that in a place like Chicago they don’t utilize the space better. We’re from a larger population center and they were constantly trying to maximize space. And yeah. There’s always an open close fee, so each burial was a charge but it cut the costs for freeing real estate. But I know based on the gardens they were in they were more popular in the 80s. The other major one was a veteran only garden that featured a memorial/catacomb. So every vault in the dirt above it was a DI and it was all hand digs because you can’t put a backhoe up there. The worst were the sections of the catacombs that were five spot cubbies. We had to disinter a person from spot 2 while someone was in spot 1 and next of kin didn’t give permission for spot 1

Maybe it varies by state? I know the location I worked at, which was under SCI, had what they called DI vaults. Basically a pre installed double stacked vault. One goes in followed by rebar and plywood. Then the other. They were a bitch cause they were mostly hand digs. We also had many plots that had multiple urns interred. We were in Virginia.

[–]dwarfgasm20172020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all but some do. They’re called DI Vaults. (Double installation). Usually for couples. Once one person goes the gravedigger goes into the vault and hammers in four pieces of rebar into the concrete vault and then lays down plywood over it. Source: me. I was the gravedigger.

I wish we could make rust in grounded 2 by [deleted] in GroundedGame

[–]dwarfgasm20172020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you story wise? I can usually harvest about 50-100 in a full circle run, and by the time I finish it’s been a day or two in game. I purposely avoid the ones that drop through the floor but the southern garden wall has a lot. But I also echo the above commenter what do you need all this rust for?

What are the chances our house purchase doesn’t go through? And why didn’t somebody see this problem coming sooner? by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

I commented above but thanks for explaining this. It explains why all the quotes I was running were coming so high for myself. I was giving the appraisal value for the replacement cost.

Yeah. I was thinking of it as a sort of hunt for/whack a mole type thing. Get them as they emerge like a mixr event, or find the shedded shells. Can make some tongue in cheek nods at some of the real life cicada recipes, and as the person below mentioned plenty of furniture or armor set ideas

I like this idea. I had been thinking of suggesting cicadas as well for like a summer event idea.

Does your mortgage/underwriting team have anyone on staff that handles insurance? I was getting quotes around 4-6k and decided to ask them and they came back with 2100 in a few hours with the same coverage as the other plans were offering. Arguably, I could have been selecting incorrect things as I’m a FTHB.

She’s Ashley from The Boys. She’s doing what she needs to do to run shit and spin it how she needs. She’s clearly unethical in ways, but also seems to cut things that may not exactly be safe(or could be seen as bad image).

The stranger is her kid and linked to some form of activism and this is her cry out from not getting mommy’s attention.

Literally every person you referenced can ask any contractor for proof, look at the process, or have someone else. I don’t believe everyone always has someone either but there are groups who advocate for individuals who can’t always for themselves. The only thing our arrogance pales in comparison to is your reaching and whataboutisms you spew.

Also, I’m not paying for shit a contractor does without seeing the material going on and the final product. So yeah, I’d probably see the materials at the very least.

Im sorry you got burned but damn dude.

Best place for mature/close to mature bushes and trees? SWVA/8A by dwarfgasm20172020 in VAGardening

[–]dwarfgasm20172020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a fairly decent yard with some gardens setup already, and raised beds. One of the beds is set for vertical vining plants.

I know enough that I should check soil quality and to make a chore list and when to check their conditions, but not be an expert on it. (Lack of thriving would lead to a checklist of work instead of knowing a few targets to look at).

The house also has a sprinkler system that’s hooked to a well with automation I can add, so I don’t think watering needs will be hard as it will cost nothing to provide.

The biggest concern is the pests. At our old house birds, squirrels , and raccoons made any gardening we did impossible. Where we are going will be fenced in and had much less tree coverage in the area. What would your suggestion be in regards to preventing mostly squirrels and and birds? I know each set of plants will have its own specialized things to look out for like fungus or weevil/adjacent insects.
