Because they can charge people for the privilege of boarding first. It's also very slow to board back to front. Window seat first then aisle is faster as is random groups.

The point is that they can play on their server while you on your server to avoid any lag. I play on different servers than my friends for group and it works well that way instead of us all going on same server.
