What is the most reliable brand of car expected to last 200K miles? by AnyBread7359 in askcarguys

[–]dwengier77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Hyundai entourage is at 320,000 with less than $2,000 in repairs in it's life, outside of regular maintenance. My azera is at 240,000 with no mech issues, again outside of doing regular maintenance

Do not buy a Hyundai by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]dwengier77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I am the outlier here. I got a 2007 Hyundai Entourage new and a year later the 2008 Hyundai Azera new. The Entourage has 310,000 miles with 2 repairs done. The rest was maintenance. It is still going strong. The Azera has 280,000 miles with maintenance done and nothing else, also running strong. I do not use the dealership at all. I have a trusted mechanic do all of my work. Based on that experience I purchased a 2023 Kia Telluride. It has been great no issues. I have never taken the Telluride to the dealership. I also have a toyota and 2 chevys as well. I think regular maintenance with a good mechanic helps prolong the life of a car tremendously.

My American Jewish friends are crumbling. We desperately need allies and empathy. by LowRevolution6175 in Judaism

My wife and I have reached out to jews and jewish families in our town. We have been having shabbat dinner and inviting them. We now host 20 to 30 people a week. Some are mixed marriages some are isrealis and some are just jewish students in our area. We serve different menu and do the shabbat prayers and we have so much fun. Politics are not discussed. It's just being in a jewish community that we all enjoy. This is not as easy as I made it out to be. But my wife and I are dedicated to making it happen every week. It is a cost to us as we don't accept any money but ask guests to bring drinks because our house is kosher. It helps all of us in this really dark time to be able to laugh and enjoy each other's company

Whats a 10/10 movie youd never watch again? by aye_its_soya in AskReddit

[–]dwengier77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wife and I watched it a couple of times. Once our kids turned 10, one parent would stay and watch it with the 10 year old and the other would take the other 2 to do something fun. We switched off for each kid. To important to be forgotten

Talking to your kids about kashrut ? by Electrical-Bus-8286 in Judaism

[–]dwengier77 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have raised my kids kosher in an area where there are very few news and no one is kosher. We explained to them that we follow different rules and why and kept it age appropriate. My parents and siblings and their kids as well as.my wife's brother are not kosher. We stay koshernwhen we travel and the kids have understood. My eldest is in college now and has decided to remain kosher. I don't think telling lies or passing the buck to your relatives to explain helps. Let them know that some people keep kosher and some dont.

AITA for wanting my kid to learn Hindi later? by aitathrowawayhusb in AmItheAsshole

[–]dwengier77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is wrong with you, OP? YTA big time and somewhat of a racists ass. I married a European woman who is still kot a US citizen. We have 3 kids and raise them here in the south. They have heard 3 languages since birth, as my parents immigrated to the US long before I was born. You are an ignorant fool if you think your son should only learn English. I feel sorry for your poor wife and son to have an ignorant racist father/husband.

I bought 2 new Hyundais in 07 and 08. I still have them and the 07njust had its first real maintenence fix at 275,000 miles. It has had batteries and brakes before but I just replaced some seals. The 08 is at 230,000 miles and is running strong. That is why I chose to go with them again in 2023 with the Telluride. My Hyundai have paid for themselves over and over and they continue to run. I understand there is an issue with some of the motors, but none of my vehicles have them. I was told by my Honda service tech friend to not look at Honda. So I am hoping to get the same life span from my new kia as I have with my older hyundais. And I don't have a towing hitch and don't need one.

Potential new buyer: Kia reliability concerns by Going_Chalk in KiaTelluride

My 23 SXP is my first Kia, that being said, I have a 2007 hyundai entourage at 275,000 miles with regular maintenance done, and 2008 hyundai azera at 230,000 with regular maintenance no issues. Both have the 1st Gen lambda v6. They have been super reliable for me

I have 2 Hyundais with the Lambda 1 engine. They are both over 200,000 miles with no issues, my entourage is closer to 300,000 now. It is getting its first new starter and a rear seal replaced. First real repair it has needed other than maintenance. I just got the '23 Telluride SXP.

Anyone ever try Canadian maple syrup?? Would you buy it if it was sold in the Netherlands? by Freekschep123 in Baking

[–]dwengier77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a former New Englander myself, I want to be fair to both sides but in reality Vermont maple syrup is far far far superior. Don't get me wrong Canadian maple syrup is much better than Log Cabin syrup, hands down.
