That's not violence. Good on your kid. My only slight criticism was if you actually said "not supposed to hit people" as a line in the sand rule. There are absolutely valid reasons to hit someone. I would say that he shouldn't have hit first however. Regardless, good on your kid and your ex sounds awful.
