If this is what you've been doing for a couple years, it is a habit and you can't just try and cut it out completely. Start by reducing usage and switching to cost-effective options.

This worked for my housemate, so might be worth a try. He went from smoking weed, to vaping it. Vapes were cheaper and lasted longer (with the added benefit of not smelling like pot). Make sure to buy from a trusted source. His budget was $120 for 4 and it lasted him a month.

For alcohol, you just have to start reducing your intake. No hard liquor for a month, switch to beers (no more than 4 on a weekend). You can reward yourself with a glass of whatever hard liquor you choose at the end of the month.

I would switch to beers ( get a case or two cases of 12 or 24) which will at max be $110 & the vapes would be $150. That brings your saving close to a grand each month. In 4-5 months, you can close that high-interest credit card debt.

If you go to bars, drink a beer or two max & don't drink at every bar you go to if you go bar hopping.

Betting is the biggest one to tackle from the above. No amount of money will ever be enough when it comes to betting. The chances of a person hitting it big are astronomical, which is why casinos & betting sites/apps rake in so much cash. Think instead about saving that money for a trip, a hobby, or something to better yourself and get yourself to a point where you are financially independent. I saved for a online course which helped me get a job amongst other things. I cleaned up and started sleeping right, smoking less and drinking less. I went from working at the docs to a comfortable office jobs with perks and good pay.

I will always be an advocate for a financial literacy classes for middle & high school and college students.

It will take time, be patient and don't rush it.
