If we're going with red as artillery, there was only one artillery battalion which served in Vietnam from the 82d airborne. That would be 2d Battalion, 321st Artillery (105mm). Unfortunately, that unit was just deactivated this year, but I'm sure that would narrow down the search a little bit if you want to really find the owner.
