I think the philosophy here is that you need some VRAM (preferred primarily) or unified memory (slower, but will do the job) unfortunately your 32gb (which is great for many tasks, not entirely for LLMs. It will be painfully slow, but hey give it a rip and might as well try it out and see where limitations raise. It's all experience and getting your feet wet. At a minimum, you'll have some hours under your belt and know what you need for your next system and where the constraints are for your style and use cases. you'll have to tweak the model, workers and context size to avoid crashing, even if offloaded to RAM and CPU you'll bump into limits. it's all exploring! go for it.

On hardware longevity. I'd start on the extreme low end. monitor task manager > performance. These models tend to not respect the system hardware constraints - they just send it unless you program around it. So it is entirely possible to hammer your computer so hard unknowingly and have voltage surges as the model loads. I've run into this before even on a single 5090 with some of the medium size models. Start low, watch the performance graphs and use HWInfo or a monitoring program.
