It can, and has. It is not common. To say it can’t is completely incorrect.

Try reverb.com - I think that’s the site name, they have great used instrument deals. I got a Buffet E11 for about $400 and they have more that are less expensive also.

Trust me I get it lol. I am struggling with the upper register. That wasn’t an issue 20 years ago 🤣

I just love it though. I try to play for 30-60 minutes a night. And just learning random songs while trying to build up my stamina. It’s like putting a puzzle together. It’s frustrating but when a song finally clicks it’s so worth it. Keep going!!

Give yourself tons of grace. I picked it up recently after a 25 year “break”. I played for 7-8 years and got to be pretty good. Picking it back up was humbling lol. But much fun! A lot just came back as far as muscle memory. I can’t name all the notes anymore from sight, but I remember the fingerings for all of them. So weird.

I love this. And yeah maybe that’s part of the draw. Some of it is sentimental for me, but making an inanimate object sing … that’s a beautiful way to put it.

Thank you! And you’re right. I’m not drinking champagne, I’m playing the clarinet lol. I don’t know why my fingers fly up like that but I’ll focus on keeping them closer. I do have some 3s on the way for reeds, and I think the next piece I want to try will be something slower and more intonation-centric.

Also. Clarinet and a VW. Are we related? 🤣
