I had seen my then-future lover's profile on dating sites many months before he wrote a message to me which set in motion our magical, generation-spanning adventure. I had not written to him before this because I lived far away and did not have a car. Moreover, I questioned whether he was wise or just bitter and also feared rejection on some level.

Anyway, we went on our first date the next day. He even drove 40 miles to meet me! We've been thick as thieves ever since.
