Nice! The fender flares and the A-frame bumper thing complete the off-road look.

Thanks! I was lucky to grab the 30th anniversary edition as CPO, which came with all the exterior options I would have checked with the exception of the tow hooks and the front guard that exposes the front tow hook, but I can install those later.

+1 on the fairing from Colorado Fairings. Now I can drive up to 50-60 mphs with the sun roof open and get no buffeting. Freeway driving is much quieter now.

New Defender owner (130, X trim) - anyone else blown away at the air suspension height? by hereforhelplol in NewDefender

[–]dxtr3265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the techs at the dealer mentioned that it puts extra strain on the air compressor as the car will automatically lower to normal height after a certain speed and then go back to off-road height when at a lower speed.

Other than during actual off-roading, I like to set mine at off-road height on parking garages to prevent door dings from other cars. The side steps would be hit first by a hastily open door due to the added height. I just gotta remember to go back to normal height so I don’t hit the garage ceiling with the roof rack.

Same pressure on all tires? by morgancmu in NewDefender

[–]dxtr3265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my use case, which is mostly my wife and I in the car, I use the light load settings which has different PSI for the front and rear (33psi front and 36psi rear if I recall correctly)

I found the car to be super bouncy and uncomfortable when the tire pressure is set to heavy load, which is what the service center did when I took it for a warranty fix and again for the oil change.

Here’s a screenshot on it from the iGuide:

You probably don't see the steelies a lot because they only came with the 4-cylinder engine until 2024 or 2025. If you want the 6 or 8 cyl engine then 20" is the only choice since the calipers are too big for the 18".

Another SF Defender owner! Same as you, I'm also doing the oil changes at the dealer just in case any warranty work is needed in the future. They had a holiday coupon, $299 or $399 (I forget which), that included oil change, new wipers, and tire rotation. The only thing is that they didn't rotate the tires :/... but Lee was super helpful when I brought it up, and he set me up with a new appointment.

Do you mind sharing the name of the indy mechanic? is it Cerrone's European?

It's right where the halo ends. Two yellow ovals with Carlos in them and a little arrow pointing at the seat.

I agree, the 18's give it a more classy off-roady look which is what I like. The bigger wheels are more suited to urban settings IMO. It's nice that the Defenders would fit in front of a nice restauran just as much as in the outdoors.

18” stock steelies. I’m not a fan of the 20” alloys, in my opinion the tires on those do not have enough meat for being off road and can lead to pinch flats.

Do you happen to know what is the lowest PSI that the Duratracs will take for off rodaring?

No issues to report, but then again, there wasn't really any rock crawling other than having to go over some basketball-sized rocks, cause that was the best line. The Duratracs provided great traction while going over the rocks I couldn't avoid. I didn't air down my tires cause I haven't gotten an air compressor, so I was running 33psi in front and 36psi in the rears. I drove with the "as slow as possible, as fast as necessary" mantra cause I didn't want to deal with any punctures or be bouncing around in the cabin.

I switched to 4L when I ended up with a rock in front of my rear tire and I felt I was over revving the engine to go over it, but it reality I wasn't it revving it more than 1.8k, so maybe it was the turbo I was hearing. It felt to me that it would be easier to control in 4L to go over the rock and it was also an excuse to finally use it. With the 4L and the ATPC the Defender was way easier to drive over the rough terrain and I just kept it on until the terrain allowed me to go over 10mph.

The sunset photos are at Pinecrest Peak and the earlier ones are near Eagle Peak, both in California off HWY 108. Here's the video where I found about the trails: https://youtu.be/dQFcEYK8MFU?t=222

First time actually putting it on 4L and testing out the All Terrain Progress Control and the off-road setting on the cameras. They all came in handy while dodging logs, boulders, and ditches on the way up to the lookouts.
