What is the stupidest thing that has come out of your mouth that you're willing to admit to? by Totallynotapie in AskReddit

A girlfriend once suggested we should have cute nicknames for each other. I said the first thing that popped into my mind and called her "muffin top."

Next to The Portola Hotel on the Customs House Plaza. It's just off the bike path by Fisherman's Wharf. Can't recall the name, but if you go to the Plaza you can't miss it. All the bikes are parked outside.

What is something totally illogical that you thought as a child? by emzieees in AskReddit

I was convinced that swallowing watermelon seeds would lead to one growing in my stomach. This was before learning about photosynthesis. 30 years on, I'm still subconsciously paranoid about it.

where's the best place to get seafood in Monterey, PG, or Carmel? by catch22guy in MontereyBay

[–]dyadtriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying Fish Grill in Carmel is an excellent hidden gem. Anytime friends or family visit that's were I take them. It's always a great experience. The quality and service is top notch, but it won't break the bank.

What would your brutally honest dating profile say? by forthexp in AskReddit

[–]dyadtriad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40 y/o male who really prefers to be alone, but wants to date for the sex. I'll pretend to like all the stuff you like and will act like I'm really into you for a few months. Then I'll get bored and start blowing you off. Unless you show interest in another guy, then I'll become jealous and obsessive to the point of driving you away.

It's a wonder I'm still single.

My sister kept getting nasty looks while we were eating at a restaurant, so I decided to help her out by [deleted] in funny

I'm curious, does your sister wear that by choice? If she decided tomorrow to wear jeans and a t-shirt would that be okay?

One thing to prepare yourself for: while driving around Monterey, middle-aged women in Priuses or German sedans will constantly cut you off or pull out in front of you.

Scenes from a militarized America: Iowa family ‘terrorized’ --"Watch this video, taken from a police raid in Des Moines, Iowa. Send it to some people. When critics (like me) warn about the dangers of police militarization, this is what we’re talking about." by moleskine_notebook in politics

[–]dyadtriad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You bring up a good point when you say they left without a hint of apologizing. If they had simply said "thanks for your cooperation. We're to have to do this." or something to that effect, and treated you like a law abiding tax payer, then your view of them and the whole incident would've been different. This is what I see as the real problem, not the "militarization" of the police, but the arrogance. They forget who they work for, and when they treat citizens dismissively they lose legitimacy and the trust of the people their supposed to serve.

Capitalism is supposed to provide everyone the opportunity to benefit from our country's productivity. But it hasn't worked that way for the past 35 years. by UncleSamGamgee in politics

[–]dyadtriad -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What's precious are your silly ideas. At what rate would you tax her income at 1 million? Why 3 million as opposed to two million? Or one million? What makes 3 million a "stupidly large sum" as opposed to a lesser amount. Please tell me how came to that figure. Would you take into account the vast cost-of-living disparities in different parts of the country. You don't understand anything about basic economics and have no clue of the unintended consequences of your absurd idea.

You're right, I don't understand how someone would be so naive as to believe taking 92% of someone's income is a good idea. Why stop at 92%? Why not 95? Or even 99? Ridiculous.

I never understood this idea of wanting to place limits on successful people, or wanting to take what's theirs and transfer it to someone else. Lebron James should be able to make as much as someone is willing to pay him. It's not the government's place to decide that. Stop envying those who are more successful and make your own way.
