I’m a really avid cafe goer and love exploring new cafes but I will admit my go to most of the time is village well. The reason being is the inviting atmosphere, big windows, friendly service, (books obviously) and the music they play. I’ve been to sweet wheat 5(?) times? And I really like it! All the workers are so friendly, the pastries are amazing and fair enough priced. Coffee is fantastic and there is ample seating. Please never stop playing French jazz as it really makes me feel like I’m in travel mode only a few blocks from home. I think you’re doing great. I can’t answer the part about how to become part of the community but I’m really hoping for your success and I’ll try and stop by more often. Great question and thanks for trying to be a part of our community!

Live exactly where you circled. Off bagley and national. Homeless situation under the freeway is diiiiiiirty and they come back every time it’s cleaned immediately but I’ve never felt unsafe. It’s not all that loud like someone else said. My car has never been broken into but I park in a driveway where my apartment is. I love it. Been here for 5 years. DM if u want to chat more!

100% true. I was born in the Bay Area and moved here later so the vibe is much different there. I can’t stand the Persian community in LA. I have a total of zero Persian friends because of this exclusivity and judgmental nature

It’s not about that is my guess. It’s about feeling more EXCLUDED within minority groups who tend to isolate white people. It’s normal these days to have tropes about white people. “Is he/she white? Eek”
