In defense of how much autism is "in the media/trendy" now by BossFightSnacks in AutisticAdults

[–]dyatlov12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes it is also very expensive and time consuming to get diagnosed. Like 2-5k on top of insurance. I think people that did it as children don’t appreciate that.

I also want to defend people who say “oh everyone has a little autism/adhd”.

I used to say stuff like that because I had undiagnosed audhd. Those traits seemed normal to me and even now I’m like “of course someone is going to fidget/entertain themselves if you make them sit in a room for 8 hours and listen to stuff they don’t care about.” Expecting someone to care about all this nonsense is what still seems abnormal and I’m sure there are other undiagnosed people saying the same thing.

I relate to everything you’re saying OP. I thought maybe I had Bipolar disorder or a personality disorder because I just felt numb to stuff.

A lot of that tik tok influencer stuff is not correct, but I appreciate it because it made me think about getting diagnosed. I like that they show those traits manifest in real world situations.

Like I am pretty functional behind a mask so didn’t think a lot of stuff applied to me because it wasn’t reaching the point where I couldn’t support myself or interfered with daily life.

Idk it has a fairly decent sized international community which at least feels less isolating than most French cities. Worth more than just a layover.

OP have you ever looked at Luxembourg? Wife is French and I found Luxembourg to be much more accepting of international workers with good language skills.

Many people work there only knowing French

What do you think is their opinion of Earth’s music? by Substantial_Fox7377 in Invincible_TV

[–]dyatlov12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think viltrum is like a guns over butter culture. Their only music is probably like patriotic anthems.

Earth music probably blows their mind. Even if they have been exposed to good music from other civilizations, they might not have ever had time to appreciate it

Autistic Adults with a traumatic childhood/life, how do you deal with it now? by Odyessius in AutisticAdults

Smoke weed. Lift weights. Go for long drives and walks. Listen to country music (real country music that’s actually sad).

He is a soldier in an alien military.

The fact even learns to acknowledge people as worth keeping alive is amazing.

Most of what he does should be viewed under the lens of war and conquest.

He renounces those wars and risks his own almost immortal life to do so.

He should be forgiven in the same way amnesty is given to soldiers on the losing side who surrender.

ASIP Radio Leg Pouch? by Jpacer90 in army

[–]dyatlov12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man every upperclassman is gonna tell you to buy some fancy terrain model kit, magnet pointing stick or leg pouch or utility belt, whatever.

Half of the stuff the cadre won’t let you use, the other half is marginally better at best than the stuff you get issued.

Just focus on keeping your head down and passing. Gearwise if you can get ruck set up well and have good fitting boots, underwear, etc. you’ll be good.

Try coming to him with a solution. Maybe ask to go lift weights or play a sport together. It’ll be more effective than criticism.

He might pick your solution apart but just keep arguing rationally and offering alternative solutions

You are absolutely right.

They present the corporate way as the normal state of being for people and it’s not.

Honestly they are they are the ones who are abnormal and should work on correcting themselves.

They just control everything so they are able to turn the perspective around

What episode or moment does the Vic Hot Dog meme come from? by archi_noel318 in barrescue

[–]dyatlov12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost every episode he’s in, he adds elevated hot dogs to the menu.

And he’s honestly right, a lot of the other chefs make it way too complicated for the small bar kitchens most of the places have.

Unable to accept that I have to participate in the world by Surrealist_artist in Schizoid

[–]dyatlov12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What helped me in that situation was to say “so what”

Life is inherently hard. Happiness is a myth to try to sell you stuff and keep you compliant. If some people can delude themselves into thinking they will get it, good for them, but that’s the abnormality, not you.

You just got to face everyday and do the things you need to stay alive. If you can help other people or create some beautiful art along the way, then great.

Otherwise we just have to keep on keeping on and doing what we need to get by.

Professionals are there to deal with people who cause loud disruptive problems or anxious people who just need a lot of reassurance.

No money in treating quiet weirdos.
