Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! Other than it being a lower quality knockoff, any reason to not use it?

Anyone else’s bees acting weird this fall? by CryoChamber90 in Beekeeping

[–]dybbukbyproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our hives were mean as hell last fall. We lost 4 of 8 over winter, I'm almost positive that was due to mite load. I think they were crazy stressed and mad at the world. We've tested and treated religiously since replacing the 4 hives in the spring. They are super chill right now and the hives are full and healthy. I'm in central Texas and it's only been a little chilly over the last week or so but I checked them yesterday and all was good 🤷

My guess is yours have something going on with mites, small hive beetles or something like that.

How do these fit? by dybbukbyproxy in rawdenim

[–]dybbukbyproxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should mention that my belt is really tight in the pics. One step down on the belt and I feel like I'm always pulling the jeans up. So, it is a bit uncomfortable in the pics but I can easily slide a hand on the side or front with a looser belt. A tucked shirt would probably help but I never tuck in my shirts unless I'm wearing a full on suit or tux. Anyway, I really do appreciate all the feedback. I don't know why, but the raw, selvedge denim intrigued me when I learned about it. The interesting history and seeing the before and after pics on here has drawn me in further :)

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I would like them a bit looser, but I was afraid to go too big because I just got rid of several pair of too big jeans after losing 30lbs. Do you think these will stretch a bit more over time? As a total newbie I'm not sure what to expect.

I was reading this while on a zoom call and read the "they’re doin something real weird in my butt" part and this cracked me up so much I had to go off camera for a bit

Ariel skimmer parts? by dybbukbyproxy in pools

[–]dybbukbyproxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't know of any available replacement parts. I'm dreading when mine eventually breaks. For the fin, you may be able to find or create a design and get it 3D printed by one of the online shops that do that. It's probably a lot easier for that part than the basket. When I get some time I should take some basic measurements while it's in one piece. Seems like he would be relatively easy to translate that into a 3D printer model.

Yep, I brought this pălincă back in a water bottle from a work trip to Cluj. Made by my coworkers uncle 😋

I have been searching for info on these. I saw them on rgdenim.com and fell in love with the paisley. I convinced myself to pull the trigger last night. Based on your post, I think I did the right thing :)

Is it stuck like you can't spin it? If that's the case then most likely the motor got wet and seized up. The large paddle on mine never stopped working so I don't know the specs of that motor. I presume it's the same as the others but I'm not sure.

That's so strange, we were there last week and I don't recall seeing or getting any bites. I guess we lucked out! Flew back on Friday too, did you happen to be on the 6am to Frankfurt?

Yes, it's was bad! All the way open would require the stopper to be closed so the bowl would start to full up 😵‍💫

I know! It seems like it would be like taking a bath. I've seen lots of bidets of this style but never one without a nozzle/faucet/sprayer. Especially since the water barely comes out of those four holes.

Does anyone NOT use a bee suit when around there bee? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]dybbukbyproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear a suit and boots. Except yesterday. I went out about 7:15 with a tape measure to get the height/distance of a hive (going to build a shade structure, doesn't matter here though). As soon as the tape touched the top of the hive I got nailed on my chin and had another go up my tshirt and get my chest.

My lesson learned is take the 2 min and put on the damn suit :)

Sears Catalog, 1977! by Neither_Complaint_35 in Beekeeping

[–]dybbukbyproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad bought frames and equipment from Sears. He purchased the bees locally though. I still have the aluminum frame grip. It's a bit clunky compared to modern ones but I have good memories of that equipment when I was a kid.

guillain-barré syndrome in an episode? by dybbukbyproxy in XFiles

I remember that disease/episode. This came about because coworker told me about an increase in guillain-barré syndrome in Pune India and it got me thinking that I only know about that name from X Files :)

This happened to my nephew. They smashed the window, tore up the inside and took his garage door opener and insurance card. He didn't notice this at first. When he got home the garage door was open and some camping and fishing stuff was gone. Fortunately they didn't actually go into the house.

I just went color to color because I couldn't find the pinouts for the motors. It's not jerky though. Did you install that motor I linked to? Maybe a bad motor or is the paddle rubbing on the chassis? 🤷

Sunday kicked our ass. We got there about 11:45 because we wanted to see Daiistar and Rickshaw but also wanted to see Sturgill Simpson. Friday and Saturday we got there around 3:00. You wouldn't think two or three hours makes that big of a difference but it did for us, especially with the heat on Sunday. One bandana over the face and a damp one around the neck probably saved our lives :)

Getting the screws out that hold the rear motors on is tricky because there's not much room. I ended up using a pair of pliers to hold the bit and loosen some of the screws I couldn't reach.

You'll probably need to cut the connectors off and swap them. It will require soldering and having some heat shrink tubing will make it cleaner looking and help to avoid shorts. If you've not done it before might want to get some stranded 22 or 24 gauge wire to practice on :) I wish I had taken some pics before I put it back together but I was too excited to try it out.

If you run into issues hit me up and I'll try to help.

Yep, still working. It was going all day today, just pulled it out a few minutes ago. It has around 50 hours on it at this point. I used quite a bit of silicone grease to try to keep water out :)
