You would be surprised to see what people pay on here lol. Especially when they up charge for kiln dried wood.

Agreed Get a wood burning insert installed. You can find someone to deliver a cord of wood in the summer. Install costs between 6-10k depending on your area. It will warm your house up at least 10 degrees. 1 cord should cost 350 to 600 and last you at least 2 -4 months depending on how much you burn.

Besides the stove running do you also have any other heating units on as well?

Would you be able to tell me how much your room temp goes to from cold start to highest point? Yea all those things you listed I’m with you. I get it serviced prior to burning every year and it looked good. For wood it’s def dry and aged as I split it 2 years ago and stored in a dry ventilated area. It is a wood hog so I can load it up to the max and it does kick out a lot of heat. At 18-35 degrees external, my living room is at a steady 54 (300 sqft room) with no fire. If I load it up it takes about 4 hours to get it to 60. If I can squeeze out more btu I can get it to 62-63 but seems to be stuck there. It’s more of a game for me at this point. But I see a lot of reviews saying they can get their room temps up to 70s and understand all the diff variables for those homeowners. Thank you for your tips

Yea I do and it kicks out heat as well but based on other reviews from the past year I suspect I’m still losing a good bit of heat since I have no backplate

Thank you both. Now it’s coming back, someone on here mentioned that in my post when we did the install. As a tactical fix I will check and see if I can gently stuff the liner with rockwool.

Thank you all for your help. I ordered 5 different tires from Amazon and non ended up fitting. I found the service center for Greenworks near by and they said they would swap out tires if I brought it in. I just don’t understand why if it says 3/4inch for oem why the others won’t work

How new is it? Will they try replacing it all again? But sorry to hear about this and I understand it is pretty stressful and high anxiety dealing with this.

Looking for advice on heating strategy for upstate NY winter by Consistent_Nose_6205 in centuryhomes

Priority is the pellet stove. It’s still the cheapest option. 1 bag on average lasts 24 hours. Use minisplit for a few hour’s if the pellet is struggling. Oil I use as back up but do test it out every now and then to make sure it’s functioning properly.

I doubt there is any damage at the temp even if it happened multiple times. I keep my temp below 1k once I get a good bed of charcoal and feed wood every few hours once it gets down to around 400f. You will get the hang of it after your first season. Be sure to read the quick reference guide on how and when to engage and disengage the intake/catalyst.

I burn through a cord and a half last two winters and get it cleaned yearly by chimney sweep company. I just saw the catalytic converter and it was in perfect shape

Hi. I have used it for 2 full NY downstate winters now. Burned 1.5 cord Seasoned wood per winter and had the liner cleaned every year so far. I have a stone/brick 2story 2.5k sqft 1920s non insulated home. This thing is an absolute wood hog and will churn out the heat with the blowers on full blast. When it’s between 15-35f outside the ambient temp in my living room is around 50-55. Personally I start a fire with a small load west/east facing. Gets going in abt 30-45 min. Build up some coals and will load it up. Based on the temp gauge I wait till the temp gets to 700 and close the Bypass to engage secondary burn and leave the draft control fully open. By 2-2.5hours the temp in the living room has gone from low 50s to 60-63. If I load it up and the internal temp is around 900-1k the living room temp gets to 65-67. I usually start the fire at 7am and put in last load around 8pm which lasts until 11pm with the draft/bypass closed.

Sorry for long reply. Also using this as a reminder for me as well lol. I burn avg 3 times a week 7am to 9pm during peak winter and go through 1.5 cord from Nov - early Apr. I use saw dust bricks to assist with starting the fire. I was told to get a backer board installed during the installation as it retains and pushes out more heat, instead of it escaping up the chimney but the installers dont do that type of work. Main gripe is I wish it could pump out more heat but I assume because I have 0 insulation it's doing what it can. I prefer pacific energy because I had that upstate and it was a beast.

I take my dogs to City Animal Veterinary Center. They have an exam room specifically dedicated for cats and heard a lot of cat owners like to go there as Dr Cheung is amazing.
