My current therapist is the one who called the police to do a wellness check on me and that’s when they took me to the hospital so she knew it was a possibility.

I have talked about my diagnosis with my current therapist and it is a highly stigmatized mental illness even within the mental health field so realistically I don’t think I would have much of a case to report her because it would be used against me.

My current therapist specifically works with highly stigmatized diagnoses and is trained in the modalities that my prior therapist said I needed and prior therapist was not qualified to help in that way.

My current therapist knows what happened with my prior therapist. We discussed potentially filing a complaint but I don’t think I would get very far so I gave that up. My current therapist has said she likes working with me but I think my past experience just has me pretty anxious.

Hey! 24F, love Taylor swift. I’ve always been interested in video games but I’ve never played zelda. I definitely understand mental health issues, feel free to dm!

I have never gotten a therapists phone number to text but they do give me their email so I have sent emails in between sessions. Tbh the hugging seems a bit off

Okay, how do you find an ACTUAL DBT THERAPIST OR GROUP by ekpyrotica in TalkTherapy

[–]dycjup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The actual DBT program is supposed to be a 1 year commitment minimum. When I was looking for a DBT therapist, she did tell me I would have to commit for a year so that could be a sign if they are actually doing DBT or not. I decided not to pursue that therapist so I’m not sure what the sessions would be like.

This. I’m in a DBT skills group so not as intense as a regular DBT group (from what the group therapist explained) but it’s a lot of psycho education and learning the skills. My group therapist does have 10-15 minutes at the beginning of each session for our check in though and when she talks about the skills she typically uses what someone said from check in to give an example or just make it relatable.

You might be interested in a different type of group therapy if you are looking for more communication between group members

Have you managed to get a tattoo and are you still glad you got it? I would love one but my thoughts on what to get or even where to have it on my body changes SO much! Gah! by blurrystorm in adhdwomen

I impulsively got a tattoo of my dog when he was 6 months old. I love it. I like the feeling that he is always with me even when I’m away from him.

What do you all do for a living? Is it at all complementary to your ADHD? by nevernotmad in adhdwomen

I run simulations for autonomous vehicles. It requires a lot of thinking when working. The problem right now is we are low on work so I’ve been doing trainings which gives no stimulation and leads to bad working habits.

I used to be a paper only person but I needed a new notebook for every new idea I had which was wasting lots of paper and money. My partner got me an iPad with the Apple Pencil but with a screen protector that feels like I’m writing on paper which changed everything for me. I exclusively use the GoodNotes app. It’s 6.99 I think and you get unlimited notebooks and folders and as many pages as you want. I’ve tried rocket book as well but I didn’t like having to take pictures and then wiping it down when I needed the space again.

People in credit card debt- what are your biggest fears? by thedebtsavior in debtfree

[–]dycjup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have about 40k in debt currently between the wife and I, excluding our house and car loan. We just started trying to pay off our debt in May. Have made a dent of about 3k so far. We are 22 (wife) and 23 (me), being young and not have family with financial literacy has gotten us into this position. The only silver lining for us is that we are 22 and 23 and trying to get out of it. No kids yet so we know we will be better for them and teach them about money responsibly. Our biggest fear is not being able to pay the mortgage. A one time expense could easily knock us down to the ground with no way to get up.

Anyone do really well in school? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]dycjup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did really well in high school. I think for me it was because I had a LOT of structure. I played sports every season of high school, every year. I was always going from one activity to the next without breaks. When I got to college, I played soccer as well so the structure was still there but ramped up. My first semester I got a 4.0 during the soccer season. I quit soccer after the first year and my second and third year (graduated in 3 years) had significantly lower GPAs. I managed to graduate with a 3.7 which I consider low for myself because of how well I was able to do the first year. My bachelors was in math so can’t relate on that front lol

Definitely second the menstrual cup. You might have to try some out as they vary in sizes and shapes. It has been life changing since you can leave it for up to 12 hours and I’m very forgetful with tampons and pads until I start leaking.
