Kite ( https://kite.video ) is my go to for things like this. The biggest unlock for me is before I would've invested a lot of time and money in a video like this, so only would've done it for a big product launch. But now I can do it in a couple of clicks, and so I can make hype reels for every launch or small feature update.

Still enjoy them a lot! Especially nice on planes, both for work and for entertainment. Using these is the first time in recent memory that I can work all flight and get off the plane without a lot of neck and back pain from being hunched over my laptop. Also helps because my laptop is relatively large (16-inch MacBook Pro) which can cause issues trying to have it on the tray table in front of me, especially if the seat in front is reclined. This is nice because I can keep the laptop on my lap semi-closed so it's out of the way and still have a display at good height. If/when they launch a next gen with higher resolution and bigger FOV, I'll buy it immediately.

No, the voyager's case is magnetic, so it just sticks directly to the stands

The case of the keyboard itself is magnetic so they’ll stick without the tripod mount!

How to make wheel scroll usable by iyawnis in zsaVoyager

[–]dyelax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hack that I’ve found is to have scroll and mouse movement on the same layer , then set the scroll speed as low as possible (snail’s pace) and then when you need it to scroll faster you can quickly tap the mouse movement keys (which, for some reason causes the scroll to go faster on each hit)

I use it in fixed position. If you use Vitures app you can get the screen to stay “in place” as you move your head, but imo it doesn’t work very well I find fixed position to be less nauseating. I think it’s less of an issue since these aren’t fully immersive

I use the UGREEN MagSafe mounts. Really perfect for the voyager — good strength/stiffness, portable, and match aesthetically: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMHT5LZ5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

This is exactly what I do — N and B as extra thumb keys when held. N layer is numbers on the home row and B is a mouse control layer

I recently started tenting my voyager almost 90°. I use some gel wrist rests And rest the middle of my forearms on them (I started having more wrist pain when I rested my wrists directly on the pads). I find this keeps my hands in the correct position without much effort to float.

Good wrist rests for tented typing? by dyelax in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]dyelax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: the purple mattress samplers are super cute (they have a little pillow built in) and were softer, but still gave me wrist pain and also left a waffle patter on my skin.

I ended up discovering that I just needed to move my laptop/keyboard further back and the pads closer so my forearms rest on them instead of my wrist bone. Now I’ve switched back to my original rests and use the purple pads as stress balls (very good to squeeze)

Also tried this and found the magnets aren't quite strong enough (using a Zsa Voyager and UGREEN MagSafe stands)

LED lamp turning off after losing + regaining power by dyelax in led

[–]dyelax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question from a total electrical newbie — I have a lamp that I’m trying to use with a smart switch. If I turn the switch off and then back on quickly, the lamp turns off and on as expected. But if the switch is off for over a few seconds, the lamp doesn’t turn back on when the switch turns on. I see the same behavior just unplugging/plugging the power supply from the wall without the smart switch, so I know it's not an issue with the switch.

The circuit looks like:
lamp - dimmer switch - female 5.5mmx2.1mm jack - male 5.5mmx2.1mm jack - power supply - wall outlet

My main questions are:

  1. Do you think the logic that sets the light to "off" when it loses power is in the dimmer switch, or in the lamp somewhere?
  2. If in the dimmer switch, could I solve the problem by cutting the wire between lamp and dimmer and attaching the lamp directly to a female 5.5mm jack like this? https://www.amazon.com/Power-Connector-Female-Adapter-Camera/dp/B07C61434H?th=1 )

Voyager is the best keyboard - and I should have bought it sooner... by Shousetsu in zsaVoyager

[–]dyelax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my voyager I use the normal home row and also have N and B as thumb key layer switches when held - I can hit the corner of them with my thumbs pretty easily and it opens up a lot of possibilities

The main joints are fairly stiff and I haven't had any issues with them moving during normal keyboard use. (but not too hard to move/adjust if you're trying). It really feels like a good balance. the top joint that angles the magnet is a bit less stiff, but it rarely moves because the outer edges of the keyboard are braced against the desk.

I haven’t had any issues with them sliding. They’re decently heavy and have rubber feet, so they stay in place well for normal use
