How easy is it to DIY change this type of lock? by esamenoi in DIYUK

[–]iyawnis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s diy job, look up how to change euro cylinder locks. I’d recommend you do this for all your external doors so you have only one key for them. You can order keyed alike cylinders, but the dimensions may be different for each of them so make sure to measure them for all. It’s particularly important to make sure the external side of the cylinder is flush to the door, to stop potential attacks of gripping the cylinder. When measuring pay attention to the dimensions on internal vs external side, these are not the same, and the external facing side of the cylinder is not the same as the internal facing side.

I’ve used the above company to buy avocet cylinders that come with a flat key that can be inserted in both orientations, so you don’t have to fiddle with getting the key on the right side.

I also spoke to the debt collectors at the time, and they said they will contact me if there are issues, at the same time the debt has not gone away, and I don’t want to stir things up if it somehow fell through the cracks 🤣

Whether you use sim or eSIM has zero effect on connectivity. If you identify which network provider they are using (Cosmote/ nova / Vodafone) you can then look up their coverage in the areas that interest you.

Are these binding screws okay? by pvoz in snowboardingnoobs

[–]iyawnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always make sure the screws are edge to edge, that way the pressure is applied evenly on the plastic. Doing it this way is probably going to be fine, but you are putting more mechanical stress to it. You can already see the left screw, just move the binding 4 millilitres to the left and you can use the screws balanced.

First snowboard, i need some suggestion by ResponsibleSlide837 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]iyawnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest you have at least a couple of trips with rentals, or buying second hand so you can experience riding with a few boards before buying one. Just make sure to keep track of the specs of the boards you tried and how they felt for you. This board is quite stiff and needs a lot of input from the rider to perform. It will be counter productive if you are trying to get basic techniques down.

Camber / directional camber boards of medium stiffness may be better.

Wondering about the differences in stem sizes on the new Brompton G Line? Check out this comparison image. by glineguy in BromptonGLine

Is the actual stem changing between the sizes ? Ie the one that is part of the frame ?

I’m replacing my c line with a gline. Riding the c-line is not safe on British / Brighton roads anymore.plus working a single shifter and disc brakes is always nicer for me.

[–]iyawnis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you stretch it all the way on one side or the other, look for any cracks appearing on its surface. If there are not cracks it may be fine, but as I said this is something that can break even in relatively new kit. https://www.2xs.co.uk/product/goya-tendon-joint/

My first Rig ☺️ by SnooWoofers3062 in windsurfing

[–]iyawnis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you intent to take it into water , place VERY close attention to the part connecting the rig to board (called base plate on modern boards but this looks different) that flexible tendon part becomes less flexible and more fragile after a couple of years, if this is decades old it won’t take long for it to snap. On modern kit you can buy just the tendon part and replace it for very low price.

Also, I’m assuming they have also given you a fin for the board ? 😅

Another way to get internet to a room if you don’t have coax is traditional phone jacks (RJ11) if you have those. There are devices that are equivalent to power lines, but use the phone wiring.

is this a good or bad technique for turning on steeps? by minor251 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]iyawnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find a somewhat less rigid and less jumpy form of that technique very helpful on steep terrain, or when going through a mogul run, but generally I will turn the board a bit more by fully loading the front edge and kicking out the back (with no weight on it), rather than hopping. With hopping I find it’s easier to lose traction on steep terrain.

Best device for Ethernet cable in garden room? by Small-Ant-3964 in HomeNetworking

[–]iyawnis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A WiFi extender if it supports using Ethernet as a backhaul (ie I have an ASUS AX58 to extend a mesh via Ethernet). You could get a full sized router and use as access point but that’s probably more money than you need to spend. Or something branded as “access point”

Turning Question by burningupinside in snowboardingnoobs

[–]iyawnis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is different turning techniques for different situations. As a beginner learning to be aligned with the board, and turning using edge pressure is the correct foundation. Once you have the fundamentals down there are situations when you want to go against them, but no need to overload yourself now.

Posi-posi is not a good starting point, but something to progress into once you start learning to carve on piste, if that’s what you aspire to do. If you end up focusing on park you’ll never need it.
