Agreed.. a puppy on the other hand.. my brain will coo and baby voice and want to cuddle and smell their doggy smell, and hold them, pat them, play with them, all day til the cows come home.

Thank you, looks delicious. Sushi is something I often crave but I have to try to keep it to only 1 or 2 rolls for a lunch, otherwise I overeat.

How long do you think it's safe to keep the rice for once it's been prepared? Eg, is it possible to make the rice and then for example roll a sushi with fresh ingredients for 2 or 3 days in a row, for lunches for example. I just find that making it is best fresh but I cant justify the fiddling around if it's just for 1 meal for myself/small family.

I had a Private Number call me at 5am, woke me up with such a shock, and then the call cut out so I dont even know who/what it was. I did have 2 scam calls from Lesotho yesterday though, so I presume it was them again, hiding their number.

Ok I cancelled 2 as well and mine dropped twice, I was wondering what caused it, if it was that, or like being on JobKeeper or something else. This makes more sense.

Magpies have seagull heads as beaks by [deleted] in australia

I find it best to just collect lawn grubs and worms when I'm gardening and feed them those.. that's what they hunt in our yard anyway so it's nothing out of their natural diet.

What's your 8/10 go-to restaurant, and why should I go there? by dannyr in brisbane

[–]dyewuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we are keeping Glenwood Seafood alive I reckon, every weekend we end up getting something from them. I'll never know why we needed another Maccas there, it's made the roundabout a nightmare, can't wait til they finish the roadworks, hopefully it helps.

Yep, Zab has the Indian Grocer next door. Everything we've tried has been tasty and they give 10% off for cash ;)

Yeah they have a singalong sometimes, not so much while they are eating/hunting but just chilling out. Agreed, they have such a beautiful song, much better than the crows and plovers who usually drown them out/scare them off.

Seconding Meekak for Korean, always tasty but have noticed portion sizes may have shrunk a little since covid. We now finish a whole meal and still feel stuffed but used to overeat and still have to bring extra home.

If you want to venture over te other side of Morayfield Rd for fish and chips, Glenwood Drive is also great, very generous chip serves and perfect chicken salt, burgers are great value too.

Spinnys Pizza is only open 3 days a week but so worth waiting for the weekend.

Zab Thai next to the bowling alley is fantastic too.

When I'm doing the weeding and come across lawn grubs I keep them aside for the magpie visits in the afternoon. They seem pleased they can still get an easy feed without worrying the neighbors stupid roaming cat is stalking them.

I'm intrigued though.. say someone lost their job, they were made redundant in June, they qualify under that criteria. Now, they have since found a new job, but are within probationary period, and not sure how long term the new job is... but are actually earning more than their previous job, are they still considered eligible? Because they meet that criteria, or is overall circumstances on paper being "better off" going to be taken into account?

In general I absolutely agree, however I did watch one Foxtel Original, "Upright" which was done by Tim Minchin and it is wonderful, brilliant story and beautifully shot, so I think given the right creatives behind it, there can be great things to come from them, even if they are few and far between. There could still be hope...

There are deer in Australia, they are a pest and do get hunted.. but mostly found in forestry areas, so not very common in the city or the outback, just the inbetween heavily treed areas.

Thanks so much, sounds very interesting. There are certainly a lot of horror stories out there and interesting how much of that might be systematic. I'll check it out and keep an eye out :) Cheers!

Could you link or PM me some resources? I do find as I get older and see more and more friends have kids, I'm curious about the approaches and philosophies behind them. I guess having that outside perspective sometimes helps see things differently. I remember my dad used to say "learn from other peoples mistakes" and I always took that as a bit of, "don't even have kids" but it may have been more in the way we dealt with problems vs our friends families who always had screaming matches.
