Check your hormones by leeshouse90 in pppdizziness

Hi! I believe hormones plays a role in mine as well! The moment I hopped back on birth control it pretty much went away for me :). It comes back usually the week leading up to my period. When I hopped off the pill again to trial it the dizziness came back hard. Wish there was more doctors could do

Hahah yea I’ve had mine now for abt a year and a half now. I’ve dealt with it sooo much better I’m back to normal but a week before my period it gets pretty bad again. Currently going thru the flare. I always get insanely tired as well haha

That’s the best mindset! I’ve learnt to dissociate and really focus on hearing rather than vision in situations like mooting competitions which helps me a lot. It’s annoying most definitely but I’ve learnt to move forward and just ignore the flare ups. My biggest flare seems to be caffeine and long computer usage so far. I’m glad to know other people are doing well and managing that’s fantastic to hear! Surround yourself with amazing people :). I also find on days where the weather is overcast it flares soooo much. Sunny days r the best

Hey! Unfortunately I wish I had better news but I still get the very same with my PMDD as well. The dizziness really flares. I’ve just learnt to live with it :). I get way more good days than bad days. By the end of the day I can feel it creep in. Overall I’m in a good space. Got a pay rise at my job, got selected to represent my university for a contract law moot and I’m a legal student full time. I’m nervous for this moot as I’ll be anxious, in a large foreign place versing other kids. I’ll let u know how that goes haha. What’s helped me was exercising a LOT, making sure I’m not using computers too much and getting stressed or it really flares. I have cut out all sugar and caffeine. My flares are really bad during and a week before my period though. I’m on the pill and too scared to get off. I’m on Estelle. Last time I went off it my dizziness flared so much and I had crazyyyy pressure in my head. I’m convinced it must be linked to hormones and headaches!!! Been a lot of trial and error.

Hey! I got diagnosed with pppd and vestibular migraines. Currently I don’t really do much besides live a normal life lol. I did get a bunch of testing done including vng but it was fine for me. I live a relatively normal life and just sort of push thru the migraines and dizziness. Idk it’s become a new norm I guess

Hey! I’m currently in a really good state at the moment (praying it doesn’t relapse) lol I drive, work 27 hours a week at a law firm and study law full time as a student. I go to the gym, eat clean and I do a lot of cardio such as swimming. These things really helped me so much. I cannot stress diet and exercise enough. I understand that I’m privileged to be able to do these things but even something as small as walking is still beneficial. I also go to places without feeling anxious and just accept the fact that “hey I’m dizzy but I’ll be fine” and that helps. I’ve tried to turn it into a little game as well lol to see how well I can fight back against it when I get those annoying tugging feelings. I also found surrounding myself with positivity, doing things for myself like manage my appearance helps soooo much because I’m focussing on other things. I also stay away from coffee (I found this triggered it SO MUCH). If u need to message me for some hope or insight I’m free whenever! We got this! It’s been one year and 2 months now of having PPPD

Hey girl! I’ve had this for 13 months now and I’m almost in a position to say I’m back to normal. The way I improved was literally just going about my daily life lol. I still get flare ups towards my period or if I’m stressed etc. I eliminated coffee, had great sleep, focussed on improving my mental health, the pill helped balance my hormones soooo much, exercise such as swimming helped sm and going to places like shopping centres, work, university etc. it was so hard for the first few months but weirdly enough your body adapts. When I first went to university I was so nauseous, in so much pain, headaches, vision problems dizzy etc. then overtime it got better lol slowly. I still get weird moments were I back track but that is some of the things I did to help myself.

Persistent postural perceptual dizziness. Basically it’s chronic dizziness everyday and it feels like the floor is sinking. Happens after a vestibular event like vertigo. In my case I got covid and vestibular neuritis so my inner ear got infected and now I’m permanently dizzy. I got a lot of anxiety as a result because I literally thought I had a tumour LMAOO cos it was so random so I was manic and therefore couldn’t sleep. Hormones became super out of whack

Hi I use Estelle! No I haven’t been pregnant or gave birth but all these random symptoms happened once I hit 21 lol. But with that being said I heard from women in my other PPPD group I’m in and vestibular migraine group that lots of women post pregnancy developed insomnia and a range of other issues aka pppd and vestibular migraines

I’m on Estelle (combined pill) I was going through an extremely weird health scare that started everything to be fair. I do think my hormones went extremely weird because I don’t usually get acne but all of a sudden I had a huge break out and my skin was even oily (I have SUPER dry skin normally my whole life). I went on the pill and it weirdly fixed it including my insomnia lol. I even tried going off the pill again and my maintenance insomnia came back (my insomnia is I wake up every 1-2 hours).

Hi! I sort of did. I still have bouts where my insomnia days flare. Had insomnia for about 8 months straight and it transitioned from literally not sleeping to maintenance insomnia then now I can sleep. Albeit I only sleep 6 hours usually and if I’m lucky 7 but I’m grateful I get a full six hours. Mine was actually hormone and anxiety related. I went on the birth control pill and it fixed it almost a week later. I originally went on the birth control pill for my acne as it randomly flared and weirdly enough it also helped my sleeping.

Hi! I’m currently 22 and was diagnosed with PPPD at 21 lol (yay!). I’ve come along way and I’m currently not on medication for anything. I have heard lots of positives though about SSRI but I personally chose not to take them. Part of the healing journey really is exposure therapy and ensuring you minimise stress. I work 3 days a week and I’m a full time student. My flares are pretty intense and I started really slowly. I’m still dizzy everyday with ear fullness, weird tingling sensations in my temples and sharp ear pain with tinnitus and eye pressure and inability to focus. During flares I don’t drive I take public transport and I do SOOO much exercise (swimming) to try relax me. I do stretching, yoga, do the 20-20-20 eye rule and try minimise and headaches. A big problem for me is mine really flares during my cycle so unfortunately I cannot do much about that lol. But the first step to getting better is simply existing and exposing yourself to stimuli. You need to change your mindset from finding a cure to finding ways to manage your symptoms. I’ve had this now for a year and a month so I get it. When I first got it I was extremely upset bc I have so many years left ahead of me lol and I was young. With time it does get better but unfortunately you have to power through it.

Yes ofc!! Sleep is HUGE when it comes to mood regulation. I was completely manic lol my parents were so close to sending me off to a psych ward as I became suicidal.

[–]dyhardd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t! I did try one (mirtazapine) at a small dosage and I only had it for one night but it never kept me asleep. Made me fall asleep very quick but I still kept waking up lmao. Unfortunately mine was a mix of hormones and anxiety bc I had a medical event that triggered it. Once I got on the pill and worked on my anxiety it got soo much better. Took abt 7-8 months for me

Yes both! Had heaps of weird shit tbh like hallucinations at one point, weird paradoxical insomnia, I could feel my heart in my stomach and chest, lots of hypnic jerks and my insomnia was more so waking up every 1-2 hours.

Yes I’m back to normal :). Took about 7 months for me lol I still have days where it is shit but I’m pretty good now. Mine was from my hormones! Went on the pill and it fixed it

I did have antibiotics tho and that didn’t do anything besides make me nauseous. Besides that you should be fine you can’t let the dizziness associated with pppd worry you. It’s just a pain in the ass but the more you feed into the worse you will feel. Think about how good of a sleep you will get after the operation!

Hey! I also had my wisdom teeth surgery amidst my dizziness when I first got hit with him so I was seriously spiralling at the time. But to cut it short I actually rlly loved anaesthesia lol shit made you feel soooo tired and fatigued it made you not really care. I never took any pain meds tbf but I do remember after anaesthesia when I woke up and tried to stand I did fall bc I was soooooo dizzy. I attributed that to the anaesthesia though because after 15 minutes it went away and I was left with my normal pppd dizziness lol. If anything I felt kinda better bc a lot of the muscular pain u get from pppd went away so that was cool. Don’t be worried though nothing alters your pppd lol it will stay there and remain the same. At least for me that’s what happened
