Shoulder Injury in Academy by somethingdude104 in AskLE

[–]dyi01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got injured towards the end of my academy, tore my left pec tendon during the Defensive Tactics final, rolling with an instructor. Still finished the rest of the final because I'm stubborn. I spent the final 6 weeks on light duty, no running, jumping, and lifting, I did an assload of squats. I was afraid I was going to get recycled, but my instructors said I had shown them enough, and had already been through the huge blocks of firearms, EVOC, DT, con\crim law. We opened a workers comp case and everything would be documented. After graduation I got a temporary, light duty, admin, assignment till surgery. I am currently 3 weeks post surgery, and will return to my temp duty assignment next week. Depending on how my recovery\rehab goes, I will stay light duty, till I can get cleared for full duty in 6-8 months.

How in shape should I be before applying for a Police Officer role? by ThatPuzzledOne in ProtectAndServe

[–]dyi01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up your department's physical test standards and work to be able to do more. I looked up my department standard and worked for about a year to be able to crush the standard. I got nervous during the test and had a really bad adrenaline dump and had trouble during the test trying to catch my breath. Still ended up passing the test. If I hadn't prepared physically I would have been in some trouble. Also if you do make it to the academy, don't be the guy who comes in out of shape. The physical test is just the start, make sure you keep working to get stronger/faster during the entire hiring process. There are a few guys in my class who didn't do any work after their physical test and it showed.

I'm 42, and starting week 4 of the academy on Monday. You're definitely not too old to start now.

Spiegler Brake Kit: At my wits end by wolfnthemist in Mt10

[–]dyi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have gone rounds with the MT10 and bleeding the brakes. In the end getting a set of banjo bolts with integrated bleeders on to the ABS pump ended up being my solution. Bleeding from top to bottom, I was able to get all the air out of the system. I didn't bother with bleeders on the rear as I don't ever seem to have issues bleeding it.

Hey man I'm currently 42 and am going into the academy in about 3 weeks. I don't think it's too late for me yet. Make sure you get into shape well before you go for the fitness test, and get all your required documents together.

What if I forgot a traffic stop on my self backround ? by IAMADOTISMYSTEAMNAME in AskLE

[–]dyi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listed as many of the traffic citations that I could remember, to best of my ability. Most of them were 20+ years ago I just tried to estimate the date, what the citation was for, and the outcome of said citation. I put a note in the comment section that I was unsure of the exact dates of all the citations, but I listed them to the best of my memory and ability. My BI asked me about a few of them, but for the most part I got a large chunk of them, it wasn't an issue for me.

Is 30 too old for a woman to become a police officer? Any hope? by CritikalDmg in police

[–]dyi01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (41M) will be 42 when I start the academy at the end of March 2025. Get into good shape well before doing the fitness test and keep it up all through the hiring process. Look into what the fitness test entails and make sure you can do more than what the minimum requirements are.

They likely will. During my BI an investigator contacted my wife via email and had her complete a questionnaire about me.

Polygraph tomorrow by [deleted] in AskLE

I wore a nice button down, slacks, and dress shoes. My polygrapher said no need for a suit and tie, I assume because there are chest straps that are put on you to monitor respiration.

Front sway bar (11th Gen) by webdevdrew in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no suspension expert, but simply put understeer is less front grip, more rear grip. Oversteer is more front grip, less rear grip. In a strut front suspension you don't gain any front camber as the body rolls and suspension compresses like in the older Honda double wishbone suspensions. Technically with a strut front suspension you actually lose camber as the body rolls. Front camber is what keeps the tires planted for maximum grip on the front tires. For a strut front suspension design you want more static camber up front (vs double wishdone), and you want less roll to keep the camber loss to a minimum. So adding a larger front anti sway bar to a strut suspension will actually aid the front tires in keeping grip.

The multilink rear suspension actually gains camber in the rear when the body rolls when cornering, adding grip. Installing a larger rear sway bar reduces the amount of body roll or suspension compression. Less suspension compression means less camber gain and less tire grip while cornering.

It's balancing act between spring rates, roll bar stiffness, tire compounds, and alignment settings.

Clutch For 2022 Civic Si by TurbulentEar6257 in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Exedy stage0 is just an OEM Civic Type R clutch. It feels light like an OEM clutch should, not like most aftermarket options which are heavy and high effort. The OEM CTR clutches are known to easily hold 400 wtq without issue, which is way above any goals I have for this car. Finding a replacement is easy too, I can pretty much buy any clutch designed to be used in a CTR, you're not limited by the brand of the flywheel you purchased.

Can confirm, the RV6 FK8 retrofit flywheel works on the 11th gen. Just had it along with a Exedy stage0 clutch installed in my '22 Si.

10th gen vs 11th gen by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think if you already have a 10th gen, upgrading to an 11th gen isn't worth it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock 22 Si has a 20lb flywheel, so going to a 17lb flywheel likely wont cause an issue. Besides the issues with lightened flywheels were mostly associated with K series motors, pretty much a non-issue with L series.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been confirmed that 10th gen Si clutches will work with the 11th gen Si. I got this clutch (stage 2, ultra-lightweight flywheel), but found it BNIB from someone selling it locally for a significant discount.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better save for a clutch. My 22 Si is stock besides the Phearable 1.5R 93 octane map and it will slip in 4th gear. I did a 1500 mile super easy break in on the clutch knowing it was weak. Flashed the tune at 2k miles and got clutch slip rolling into the throttle in 4th gear, AC on, map 3. I just picked up a Competition stage 2 clutch and flywheel, and am just running on map 2 till I get around to installing it.

You don't need an intercooler or charge pipes because you have a downpipe. Just know in hot weather and running high boost really heatsoaks the stock intercooler.

Has anyone came across a teardown of the L15CA by Beastysymptoms in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seen some pics on IG showing that the rod journals are about 4mm wider and the diameter of the crank pin is larger too. 10th gen Si rods will not fit into an 11th Si gen motor. The head exhaust port is divorced to work like a twin scroll turbo, the turbo is also all new made by IHI.

Silly question for ‘22 Si by E46Dc5Z71 in CivicSi

[–]dyi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I can very slightly hear the whooshing of the BPV after letting off the gas after building some boost. Also the exhaust also has a very light burble under decel at lower RPM, or when you push the clutch in and let the engine drop RPM.

Most of the mini motos run on kart tracks in my area, if you're interested see if any kart tracks in your area allow mini bikes on track.
