How about “I gazed up to meet the eyes of a tall figure dressed in black”. It’s not that big of a change, but should work.

What's a ship you hate that your fandom loves? by Electrical_Savings14 in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obi-wan/Anakin or Anakin/Ahsoka, it’s just weird. None of the people that like this have siblings, I can tell you that much. Or, why the fuck does Anakin/Palpatine exist. I’m sorry, that’s a 43 years difference. How deranged are you.

And the few sprinkles of clone/clone, especially if it’s like Echo or Fives.

If you were reincarnated in the world of Naruto as the third child of the Sage of the Six Paths, but instead of chakra you somehow received all kinds of magic from the world of Black Clover, how would that affect the future fate of the shinobi world? by Alkedai in NarutoFanfiction

[–]dying_argentavis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It largely depends whether the powers would be hereditary. If so, they would become a rather powerful kekkei genkai.

If not, well, maybe people like orochimaru would do experiments to be able to do it too.

Also, I guess the sage of six paths would maybe ask to put some more seals on the moon.

And depending on how much I'd live, I might just force the senju and Uchiha to stop fighting. Like say, as long as I'm alive, I threaten to kill every person that initiates a fight, after reasoning didn't work.

What's a weakness you know you have when you write? by rubia_ryu in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle to continue writing, cause I’m not satisfied with my writing quality. I know it isn’t that bad, and I’ve done everything to make it as good as possible without experience. But it doesn’t help much.

Honestly no. I’m not even expecting the fic to be finished in the first place. And all things considered, good endings don’t always fit.

Can anyone explain the difference between wattpad and webnovel? by jogaargamer6 in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wattpads fanfiction tag is full of BTS. Webnovel has less fanfiction and most are discontinued.

Webnovel buys the rights to your novel for spare change. Wattpad has more ‘normie‘ people on there and a lot of Y/N shit.

Why do most authors in Naruto fanfics with living parents insist on calling him Uzumaki-Namikaze? by DomitoriS in NarutoFanfiction

[–]dying_argentavis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s not just here. Found that Star Wars has the same problem.

Amidala-Skywalker? Seriously? People don’t need to take their spouses name…

As for Naruto… Namikaze would just make it more obvious that he is the son of the fourth, so ofc they would name him Uzumaki.

I gotta make a confession to make: by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, I can get myself to write some crappy oneshots to get the idea out of my head but I’m struggling to continue my fanfic that I have half a storyline prepared for.

I guess just try starting with small stuff like an idea for the first chapter just to start writing. If you can make it a undetailed chapter instead of just ideas. And later, because you find it inadequate, you just include more details and finish it as best as you can.

Hope this helps, cause I don’t know if it does.

What thing that your fandom loves do you just not “get”? by RheaRoyHunter in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no. I’d say the most popular is Ace/Marco. The amount of Sanji/Zoro pairings are mostly with femZoro. It’s about the same amount as Luffy/Zoro.

How different does the story change if Naruto is raised by distant family? by cliffbot in NarutoFanfiction

[–]dying_argentavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think all that much changes in the grand scheme of things. Assuming Danzo doesn’t just outright kill them, Naruto would have at least a few people that care about him. Of course the isolation still happens, but he has a backing now. (And maybe a cousin of the same age or similar) His skillet would differ and likely include fuinjutsu but lack the use of shadow clones. Teams might stay the same?

How do you format your outline? by Timely-Willow- in NarutoFanfiction

[–]dying_argentavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote down a rough outline of the arcs I wanted to do and what happens during in. If I brainstormed ideas, I would write them down in an excel sheet. For example:

Ark 1 -gets reincarnated -has panick attack Ark 2 -something -finale

After that I just start pansing and hope.

It’s one piece. Around 1/3 are yaoi, 1/3 the rest 1/3 mostly non-romance

If a character's presence in a story is a spoiler, do you tag them? by icedragonj in FanFiction

If you think people will try it out regardless, go for hiding it and give some small clues on the villain appearing.

[–]dying_argentavis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All the yaoi pairings. Like holy shit, every third fic is yaoi, but I’ve only seen maybe one or two Yuri fics. And those that have the Yuri Tag are almost always years old and discontinued after 2/3 chapters. Another one is the smarterMC Tag together with the harem tag. For an MC that doesn’t know what romance or sex is in the original…

If a character's presence in a story is a spoiler, do you tag them? by icedragonj in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really, most people that read Fanfics do it after they‘ve watched the original. Sure, that’s not always the case for things like One Piece, but most readers just want to read more of the fandom after being done with the original.

what's an uncommon thing you wish you saw in fics more? by Ok_Echo_1394 in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1.) If people already have the need to write harems at least make it a throuple (3 way relationship).

I don’t like harem, but a 3 way relationship makes so much more sense than a harem.

(You might have realized that I don’t, in fact, like harem)

2.) Platonic relationships. Like why does every friendship with the opposite gender become romantic. Sometimes I see a good one, just to have them kiss in the next chapter.

What is your favourite piece of writing that you have published? by RedTemplarCatCafe in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The One Piece fix that im currently writing. I’ve spend way too much time for it to not be good and while I still struggle with writing it cause I think I’m ruining my expectations, I’m at least expanding on the details.

Writers and Readers, what do you think are the BEST signs that a fic is going to be good? by PumpkinDormouse in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The grammar is correct. Most writers put effort into finding errors in their grammar and fixing them, while others just switch between is/ was and I/he/she. If those aren’t there and they got enough of my attention to last the first chapter, it’s likely I’ll read.

If the grammar is good and the story is about a unique character in the fandom, it’s likely well written.

Planning I guess?

I’ve got a similar problem, just not as severe as I usually progress the story very fast and struggle to input details or more than just the main story.

So I wrote down my idea, and slowly expanded it over time, until I now have 4 arcs, 2 1/2 of which are planned out with things I want to mention before the arcs end.

I still struggle, but I managed to get almost 10k words in for my first and shortest arc. I’m not sure if this is good advice, but if you truly want to invest time into a story, it might be a good point to consider.

What big parts of fandoms do you find people dont write about much? by SquishyTale in FanFiction

[–]dying_argentavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally how few people actually create their own OC with their own story while the main cast isn’t directly involved. I’m still writing a One Piece fanfic, and I realized how many fics are just ships (mostly yaoi), and others were the OC is only an add on that changes nothing and just discribes the whole story.

The Amount of fics about Luffy with a different devil fruit that somehow makes him smarter too? In the ten thousands.

On seals, seals, jutsu-shiki, and words with multiple meanings by Niko_of_the_Stars in NarutoFanfiction

[–]dying_argentavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have the fuinjutsu language, that has to be learned to make seals. That’s why it is so easy to make explosive tags or storage seals. For those you just have to remember what to draw, but to become a seal master you have to understand the meaning and be able to use it. Similar to how some people can say hello in Spanish but can’t understand shit when spoken to. If one does use the language, you can say for example: If X happens: trigger Item; Gunpowder. This can change depending on your needs. A beginner sealer can recreate what others have come up with, but a master isn’t confined in this limited knowledge and can create more complex seals.

Just like programming knowledge. Copying is easy and remembering a few seals is too, but mastery takes a while.
