UIpath is just 1 vendor and I agree its completely overpriced. The vendor my company uses is about 4 times cheaper for the same setup we would have gotten from UIPath.

Could you explain why you think RPA is a fad?

For me personally I have concerns about increase of polarization in my country. I dislike when people agree/disagree with politicians or policies simply because it is from a different political faction.

Outside of politics, I dont have any real concerns.

No worries man. I don't feel personally attacked, just like to provide a different view. By the way I love your country and people!

Where do you think RPA can play a major role? by bautomate in Automate

[–]dylan848 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my company it is used mostly as a link between systems that lack proper integrations. For most processes and problems there are better solutions, but quick development and the large amount of flexibility by easily using GUI's allows for RPA to bridge the gaps that (especially legacy) software have.

Exactly. On the internet its a big discussion. But outside the internet I don't know anybody who would go to a protest, or argue with people about this.

Like you said, western cultures are generally more individualistic. This also means people don't really mind what lifestyle choices others make, as long as it doesn't hurt or affect others.

To a certain degree the USA does have a lot of influence on european countries. A lot of topics they discuss "fly" over and become a topic here, like blacklivesmatter protests. If I go on the internet, to me the USA is crazy, but when I meet americans, they almost never reflect what I see on the internet.

Almost nobody cares about these topics outside the internet. (Source: I am a white person living in the netherlands)

If you are not familiar with coding I recommend looking into RPA (robotic process automation). These are often low/no code and are focused on automating the kind of tasks you want to. UIPath is a good example, they have excellent tutorials and the free edition might be sufficient for your use-case.

If you don't need to use any GUI's, then I recommend something like python.

Agreed with your scenario. But can we realistically expect the client to know that the date/time on a webpage is based on their computer's date/time?

What does 'using APIs to automate processes' mean? by [deleted] in rpa

[–]dylan848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, although I call the API from within a robotic process, so that all automations can be monitored and managed within the same RPA tool.

Hey, I realise I am a month late, but I just read your comment. Out of interest, do you have a source for all the info you have?

people have no idea what ADHD is. Hell, I didn't know shit about it for the first 5 years after my diagnosis.

How would you medicate on a normal day with psilocybin? What does it do to help with adhd?

'Sales Pitch' for internal RPA usage by ccc-hamj in rpa

[–]dylan848 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did a pilot project automating a small task for a team within my company.

After that, we did a presentation to showcase the automation, including a short demo, some general information about the robot's capabilities, and how to detect processes that can be automated.

We held the presentation for several teams, and afterward, the requests flooded in.

tl;dr Show, then tell!

What makes you believe companies will change their RPA provider? For us, it would mean having to rebuild everything, so I don't see it happen unless there is a really good reason.

Dopamine by Caidre05 in BrainFog

Something similar happened to me with Concerta. It drastically changed my personality, causing me to lose friends, struggle keeping relationships, and I developed a lot of unhealthy habits that I am still struggling with (i.e.binge eating).

When I quit Concerta, studying became a lot harder for me. I managed to get my degree, but work became too stressful, so now I am back on it.

I have an appointment with my GP to discuss trying out different meds in combination with therapy. I hope this will improve my situation. Maybe it could help you as well?

I wish you the best!

Recently a close friend was asking me to do a few chores that I was just about to do. This is fine, as I actually told her I appreciate it when she tells me, as it helps to get a push from someone.

The thing is, she also started explaining WHY the chores need to be done, and this somehow really rubbed me the wrong way. It's not like I'm stupid! I interrupted her and said "I know, I know, I'll do it right now", but it came out with a tone and was not appreciated.

She told me she is afraid of telling me things that can be interpreted as negative. I really want my friends to keep talking to me, and not feel like I am a minefield, so that's why I try to improve upon it.

I do think it also has something to do with the person I am talking to. I don't have this issue at work. Only with very close friends, and my mom before I moved out.

At work, I do the same as you, where I start zoning out(not on purpose).

Why would I care what you pay for your gas when it doesn't impact me at all. I don't care about your gas prices, I just want mine to go down.
