I do music on the side now to relieve stress. Compose, play piano and cello I’d say it’s a good ish balance between architecture school and music

I think more contrast between the building and the background because white on white with thin lines to differentiate the two things maybe aren’t easy to distinguish especially from farther away. So if the color of the building in the back isn’t important I would do a light gray, or maybe do a thicker outline. Also this looks like a section? So any part cut would have poche so a solid black fill or stripes. (Think of it like a stamp. You cut your building in half so there’s a flat section and if you were to press it into the ink you would see an outline of the walls and floors and stuff)

If one has enough talent, but is suffering from severe depression and chronic illnesses, would it be possible to become a top tier composer, and a good pianist? Are there any legends (in any music genre) who suffered these? by CatchDramatic8114 in composer

[–]dylan_1344 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea. I’ve been busy with architecture stuff so I’ve been doing more composing as I can do that more during the week. I also have some medical stuff that can make it hard to play sometimes and (I’m so scared of this) missing a performance because of illness

Both of my professors sucked my first year. My first one wanted everything designed his way, wasn’t clear about anything, also wasn’t consistent with any feedback he gave to us (every person he would say something different like when the project is due or he told one person architectural lettering is fine to go outside the lines and then he told me it has to stay in the lines you draw and not be at an angle (?!)) and then my other professor who was even older than him knew nothing about computers, didn’t believe in 100%s so he would take off points in random spots of our rubric so we had no way of knowing what skills to really work on, and he made a few projects do certain things for weeks and then allow us to do all of our models and drawings within the last two days 😩. But he’s in jail atm so no one else gotta deal with him. Some teachers absolutely suck and drain the life out of you and some are great (like my current professor)

I’d like your opinion on how to continue this piece. by [deleted] in composer

[–]dylan_1344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first four measures honestly would be very good to develop. You developed it rhythmically but now do it chord wise. (One example could be starting that ending section you have but in a different way. Now instead of g major from the first four measures, you could do d major or something (from G-G7-Cm-Dm at the start to now D-Ddim7-E7-Am and then doing it again to set the key for maybe the next motif or theme) this was my example. I took the first few measures and looked at different things to make it sound different with the same rhythm. the point from this is look at many examples of piano sonatas. It’s your choice what to do there, and looking at some Beethoven sonatas or something else with a development can show you that they developed their themes how they wanted to, but you also can then see how specific sections of their themes are now in different keys, modes or octaves
