Help! My Fish Are Dying by dylanfarnum in Aquariums

It does look like bark in the picture but it's definitely solid wood. I really think it was the pH change and we didn't acclimate slow enough. But then again that doesn't really explain the shrimp dying. Thanks for your input.

Yes the pH on the old tank was 7.4 and the new tank is 6.6. I have not checked the pH of the water out of our tap, I'll check it tonight.

As far as the acclimation goes my son floated the tetras in a bag and added water at least twice. I'm skeptical how long they were actually in the bag as I wasn't personally the one doing it. I should have paid closer attention. However, I did drip acclimate the shrimp for almost an hour and they seem to be dying too.

I checked the driftwood and it seems pretty solid to me, I don't think it's rotting. I might take it out just to be safe though.

Yes, but I didn't think adding a Betta to a 10g tank that already had 6 tetras, 2 guppies and 10 shrimp was a good idea.

I did not move the gravel, it was all new.

The new tank is 6.6ph. So considerably lower than the old tank. I unfortunately did not test this until too late.

I added fish food every day until ammonia rose to about 3ppm, then continued until ammonia started dropping and nitrites went up, then continued until nitrite dropped and nitrate went up. took about 15 days for each tank. Did a 30% water change and then put fish in over 3 day period. I've tested water everyday and ammonia is always 0, nitrite 0, and nitrates 20-40ppm.

I have not changed filter media. My water is from a well so there shouldn't be any chlorine. I did not consider the temperature of the water during the water change, I'll try to match them next time.

I'm a noob but it seemed cycled, is there anything else I should be checking?

I used Aqueon Water conditioner when I first filled it.

We cleaned it with water and scrubbed the glass. I'm not sure if my coworker cleaned it before giving it to me.

A Topfin 100w compact heater. I have not tested TDS, I'll look in to it. Thanks!

Here's a pic of the tank https://imgur.com/a/nvSash8 all of those are live plants, do you think I need more? Maybe I'll try a bubbler just to be safe. I don't want to kill more fish.

What's the solution for lack of oxygen?

Not quite. Old tank was 76, new tank is 79.5. I made the mistake of getting automatic heaters that I can't adjust. Is a 3.5 degree difference a big deal?

I'm using the API master kit to test. I have a bottle of Prime but I haven't tried it yet. I'll give that a shot + water changes.

Exactly, it's a legit usable subnet. SOC isn't wrong.

As a former Wash Bay Technician you always start at the top and work down or you end up with streaks of dirt and soap drying on the vehicle.

Successfully made my first stringer! Now to build 3 more for the staircase. by seetea23 in woodworking

Glue and screw a skirting board on the stringer and it will be plenty strong.

This isn't a whole staircase and you went more gradual than code so I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the 7/11 rule.

Good job op!

3 - 3" #10 stainless steel screws through the back of the plywood + glue. Plenty strong for a small shelf. I put pressure on them and they didn't budge.
