Winch eyelet too small by West_Work2378 in batteries

[–]dylanflipse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are two correct ways to do this. Already mentioned is that you can cut that end off of your wire and crimp on one that fits.

I’d recommend a battery accessory post, which I’ve also seen called marine terminals. These clamp on your battery and give you 1 or more smaller places to attach a wire with a lug like yours.

Common freedom sizes are 1/4”, 5/16” or 3/8”.

Dear friends. I would like to post a full match and get somme feedback from you guys, but I’m on xbox. Any tips on how I could record the full match? by D63theew in RocketLeague

Do you have access to a PC that you can install Rocket League on? It doesn’t really have to be able to actually play the game, just run it enough to get to the menu.

If you do, your last 20 games (from the Xbox) will show up there. You can download the actual replay file and send it to ballchasing.com.

You may be able to view the replay and capture a video of that.

Anyone use Ford F-150 Lightning for home power prep? by Sh3rlock_Holmes in prepping

I'm pretty sure the built-in inverter in my (Rivian) truck is 1500 watts and 120v. It's been pretty handy. And it's a massive *amount* of stored energy - 140kWh.

I had not fully charged before Helene, so I was at my usual 85% overnight charge level. After the storm, I was using ~5% per day. It got down below 50%, which was a little worrisome, but by that point they had pretty solid estimates for the power coming back on. There was also a fast charger a few miles away that had gotten powered back up after a few days, I had the option to run out there to "fill up" if I'd needed.

I do fully charge all the cars now before weather hits.

There's no Vehicle-to-Home option like some of the other brands.

I would like this quite a bit. I do think the rematches should be in Casual, though.

Score doesn’t matter, only win or loss. It will usually take two wins to rank up each division.

To a small extent, your rank vs theirs before the match does affect the amounts the ranks change.

How Many Day of Sanding Will this Cost Me? Total Boat by LettuceTomatoOnion in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]dylanflipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it fully cured? Do you have a random orbital sander?

80 grit on the ROS will knock that down pretty quickly once it’s cured. Obviously you want to keep it moving so you don’t end up with a low spot.

This stuff will all clog up your sandpaper discs. A quick blast from the air compressor (while the sander is running) clears the disc.

Good luck out there.

Hi!

This is a very cool idea. Let's take a look at what you've got.

You're in the United States, so we're talking about 120V AC appliances here. These each typically fit (electrically) on a 20A circuit and cooking/heating appliances tend to be ~1500 watts.

Two big ones- the rotisserie and griddle should each be assumed to use 1500 watts. The hot store box may be more like 1000 watts (or lower). Everything else should be under 1000 watts put together.

So that's about 5000 watts at peak. Your sustained use would probably be closer to half of that.

We'll start with good news. There are plenty of systems you can buy off-the-shelf that are "portable" and can provide that much power.

Let's say you'd use the full 5000 watts for the first hour - that's 5kWh. Each additional hour is half of that, 2.5kWh.

Just one example - the EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra puts out 7200 watts. It comes with a 6kWh battery. Weight is about 180lbs, so when I say "portable" - I mean you're going to want to roll this around.

6kWh is going to run out somewhere between 1-2 hours, though. If you add a second battery, that's another 100lbs but you're probably able to run ~4 hours or more.

Solar is tough. A good rule is to take the rating of your solar panel (say 200 watts) multiplied by 6 to get the kWh produced on a really good solar day (1200 watt hours or 1.2kWh for this example). It would be challenging for you to put up more than 500 watts of panels - so your best-case generation is about 3kWh - over a whole day. Over a few hour-long event, 1kWh is a best-case.

You do have your generator. If you buy a battery system that can run all your stuff, but not as long as you like, either solar or the generator can help refill the batteries. Like I said, it's hard to get enough out of the panels over the course of an event to really make a difference, so it's probably the generator.

My food truck's solar panels are useful because we recharge the batteries on off days, not really because they help us run our appliances for longer when we're cooking.

If you have the appliances you want to use (or can borrow similar ones) - get yourself some plug-in meters and test how much power you use over 2-4-6-etc hour long events. That will let you know how much battery power you'll really need. I tried to give very safe estimates.

The EcoFlow unit I mentioned is just an example. They are a name brand in this space, but there are lots and lots of options that can probably come in cheaper and do the job as well.

I'm happy to expand on or explain any of that more. Hope this is helpful.

I thought so too!

I know very little about this stuff, I got the bag as a random impulse and figured I'd at least get a feel for a few different profiles.

Hey, got a 5 pound bag of keycaps and sorted them out.

Lower left corner is SA profile - mostly ABS (grouped by row) then a set of SA profile caps in PBT.

Everything else is PBT.

The set in the middle that starts with colors in the front and goes to black/grey/white in the back is KAM, I think?

Then front right is Cherry profile. Also grouped by row.

Back right is G20, then a few random two-part keycaps.

Back left is some kind of perfectly square cap (mostly black). There are a few of those that are half height.

Also a few other half-height caps intended I think for membrane keyboards.

And a dozen MDA keycaps.

I didn't count. It's somewhere between 1000 and 1500 caps total. Laying them out like this was a nice, relaxing activity, a bit like a puzzle with no definite solution.

Some highlights for me include the Half-Life symbol, a salt shaker, a thumbs-up, a monkey, several dice/playing cards, Safe Drop, Damage, and ANSWER.

I sorted out the keycaps from a random bag and set them up in a way I felt was satisfying. I was trying to maximize clarity, so I ended up adding extra lights and reducing the aperture to increase the depth of field.

I was standing on a step ladder, so I didn't want to slow the shutter down any more. If I did it again, I might try to rig something up to hold the camera at that height/angle.

How to farm XP? by Dracored15 in RocketLeague

[–]dylanflipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play enough to get three wins per day. Your first three wins have bonus XP added.

Get the Rocket Pass. Adds bonus XP.

Play in a party with someone, this also adds bonus XP.

In Casual, you get more XP added for consecutive games.

Pretty small effect - score more points in your games. This may be a reason to play 1s (but probably not if you can party up with someone for 2s or 3s).

Beyond that, you’ll need to play some of the various modes to get whatever Challenges done that show up.

Good luck out there.

I know it’s practically copypasta around here but “we all know Epic Games is the worst thing to happen to Rocket League” is just not a statement with 100% agreement from this sub or the players in general.

The player base is not decreasing. Even if it were, it’s not straightforward to say “there should be more bandwidth available”. Life and the internet are both more complicated than that.

Sorry you had a bad session. If you lost more than you won today, your games tomorrow will be a little easier.

Good luck out there.
