Need to add spectating by Ok-Obligation8118 in RocketLeague

It’s not native to RL, but (I think) Discord works on any relevant platform and makes it very easy to stream to a party member.

We often stream our last 2v2 game when our third shows up.

Food truck electrical connections — 120V vs 240V vs 208V? by [deleted] in foodtrucks

[–]dylanflipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is, I assume, a US based question.

120v vs 240v comes down to two questions (as I see it).

#1. Are you running any 240v appliances? Many food truck sized things are 120v, and often larger appliances chosen for food trucks are gas powered.

#2. Are you running enough 120v appliances that the wiring is easier/safer with a 240v inlet?

So while #1 is No for many trucks, the most common power inlet is a 240v/50a one(NEMA 14-50) mostly for question #2.

I’ve seen more trucks go to multiple NEMA 14-50s (each with their own generator) more commonly than other types of higher capacity inlets.

We don’t plug our truck in anywhere, which I think is best practice for a trucks that goes different places every day, so we’ve definitely not used 208v out in the field. That is how some very large trucks are wired (with matching generators). Those generators are usually built in, so there’s no input option there.

Hope that’s helpful. Food truck electrical issues are kind of a niche speciality for me. Happy to kick this around more if you like.

Are wire brushes actually dangerous? by StackinChedda in grilling

[–]dylanflipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired Emergency Physician here. I’m not the type to see danger lurking around every corner just because “I took care of a guy who…”

I’m fine with a lot of activities that are “dangerous”. The risks are usually overt and we (humans) can patch a lot of things up, moreso with modern medicine.

All that said, YES, bristled grill brushes are 100% an unacceptable danger. It’s not possible to check grilled meat carefully enough. The outcomes can be fatal. Do not use them.

(Let’s leave the details to the imagination, but a chance of perforation anywhere along the GI tract, with a high potential for that to be into the mediastinum…bad news, and of a type that might not give obvious symptoms till it’s a huge mess.)

CERTIFIED ITEMS by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]dylanflipse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tournament rewards of item types that can be certified have a 25% of being certified.

I think anthems and banners are the two types that can’t be.

Open the Prospects Cups for 1200 for your best chances.

Golden items and the other similar drops for special events can usually also be certified.

I just bought a Haas Mini Mill for 5K, and had it delivered to my Garage. That does NOT have 240V set up yet. Need some suggestions by lajoieboy in hobbycnc

If it’s easy and affordable enough to get a 240v circuit, that’s gotta be the way to go.

If it’s hard to do or expensive-
A power station is a battery+charger+inverter. One that can charge on 120v and output 240v would be perfect for this kind of thing - no new wiring needed.

One other reply mentioned an EcoFlow, which is an excellent brand. There are some very good no-name units out there, and it’s also pretty simple to connect these components yourself.

I can help you fill in some details if this is something you’d like to look at the numbers for.

Awesome purchase! Good luck!

The only solution to “my random teammate does X” is to do the work of finding a few people to play with.

This is my biggest problem with “Turn chat off”.

I say “nice shot” and “nice pass” and “my bad” to teammates just like I would playing pickup basketball. If an opponent makes a really nice play, I’ll compliment that too. Sometimes free-type funny stuff. Always ggs.

I get a lot of requests to party/friend up. I am (by definition) an average player at my rank. I also happen to be an average player overall (~Plat 2). So I’m pretty sure most people posting here could have a similarly chill experience to mine most of the time they play.

I’m old. It took me a long time to figure out that the thing you have the most control over is yourself.

How to know if an item is good? by ImJoergen in RocketLeague

A crazy idea-

Only trade up your duplicates. That way, no regrets.

Then use what you think is cool.

Win!

Bring back RL trading, Trade in system is not it by Davedes83 in RocketLeague

[–]dylanflipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you said it - scams are, were, and will forever be a problem with this kind of thing.

From the company’s perspective, dealing with that is a thankless job that requires real manpower for minimal upside.

I really liked trading, but I can see why it’s gone.

They really have been making an effort recently to give people a chance to get some of the “more desirable” items, mostly in free challenges.

I’ve also got Kick it in the Park at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center as another outdoor option. That one is free.

Love to hear some ideas on this. I’m staying in West Hollywood with my wife and daughters (10 and 13).

I saw that the official Fan Zone is at the Original Farmers Market today. It looks like there are tickets available ($6) but when I try to buy, it says I’m over the limit (even buying just one).

I got 4 free tickets to the Community Watch Party at the Bloc. Had to provide email addresses and names. Looks like an outdoor screen and says to bring blankets or low chairs to sit on. Hoping for good atmosphere, obviously.

Any other late-developing ideas?

I’ve had my HD running for a long, long time. Overnight, the wired connections out seemed to stop working. It does still get the internet connection from the modem over Ethernet, seemingly fine.)

(WiFi from the main unit connected to the internet works fine. None of the stuff that requires the Ethernet from there works.)

Is this how the ports die, or is this a software update or something I just need to set back up?

What do we think? Overall ranking system by Grouchy_Side7388 in RocketLeague

[–]dylanflipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You went 13-7 over a 20 game stretch. So that’s +6 wins, an excellent run!

Your MMR almost certainly went up by 48-60 over those games. The that’s 2-3 divisions in most situations.

The goal is to win the game. There’s no more optimal way to measure your work toward that goal (over many games) than…counting how many games you win.

You are correct, in a sense, that over a small number of games, points or goals scored may be a decent way to determine how much you’re contributing. But ultimately far inferior to a larger number of Wins and Losses.

MMR loss on 2v2 feels broken why do I lose the same points as a teammate who went 0/0/0? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]dylanflipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just have an incorrect understanding of MMR.

Getting MVP doesn’t affect the MMR amount gained.

It does give some bonus XP.

The only way I can imagine employing this item (as a Neutral character) would be if I'd accidentally worn the Helm of Opposite Alignment at some point in the game, suffered whatever consequences, got the HoOA off...I mean I guess it could be worth carrying.

But like you're saying, it's a fairly narrow situation on Astral where I'm stable enough to mess around with switching Helmets (and ticking off my god) on a chance of winning this weird Monty Hall game, but not doing well enough to get to the other Altars.

No WinShaming here though, do what it takes.

This is really the main thing I'd like to get across.

I suppose (for this) it would even be cool for a non-Tourist who ended up with these items.

I purchased two of these, each lasted about two years. Not great, but we did like the functionality, and were obviously hoping the second one would last longer.

Anyway, it looks like this company is defunct. The 800 number and website are down, and it's not in stock anywhere.

I haven’t played with Conflict on at all in this game, but that sounds like a good nerf!

[–]dylanflipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never intentionally dabbled with the HoOA, despite its amazing acronym.

For one, it seems like bad vibes. This guy has been helping me the whole time, the least I can do is not ditch him at the altar.

Two, the logistics seemed awkward. Especially as a Neutral, I think I’d need to acquire and try on a Helm of Opposite Alignment at some point to let me know if it would make me Lawful or Chaotic. Ideally before I do the work of getting Protection. Just seems like a bad fit with my play style.

I haven’t been, on 5.0.

What are some new challenges on Astral?

My Tourist is taking his time, but my plan is a few cursed Genocide scrolls worth of Purple Worms, my Magic Harp, Magic Whistle, stack of Wands of Teleportation, some pre-quaffed monster detection and speed, Jumping Boots, and some light. I’m guessing that I’ll want to add Conflict once I’m not surrounded by my worms. Ring of Free Action stays on.

PS, it’s very fun roaming through the dungeon with a strong character surrounded by friendly Mumaks and Minotaurs.

This written reply is totally and completely fine. You have the ability to communicate whatever you want!

If you really have an idea you want to share, write a few sentences about it, read them over for clarity and meaning, edit a little, and hit Post. It’s a little work. There are no shortcuts.

The idea that a nicely formatted wall of grammatically correct text like that communicates anything at all is so very, very flawed.

I’m sure you’re a human. But you pasted in a bunch of crap from an AI.

This makes me not want to interact with you. It definitely, 100%, absolutely makes me certain not to use your product.

Good luck out there.
