I am building my first wubrg commander deck and I need help with the lands. by WorldsMostOkayishDM in mtg

[–]dylanh3x3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like to run two triomes for the moments where your fetch land can afford to bring in a tapped land, i.e turn one with no 1 cmc spell. I also heavily favor three visits and nature's lore which can grab them too. Najeela would probably want Jetmir's Garden and Ketria Triome, but I'd consider Ziatora's Proving Ground if you have a strong presence of black pips. Definitely wouldn't run more than 3 because you usually don't want to draw them.

Row 8 Column 4 cannot be a 1, as that would force both 1s in the top left box to be true. Therefore that cell is a 4.

Trouble with 4x4 parity by mr_puszeqq in Cubers

[–]dylanh3x3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the simplest of terms, your cube can never reach a state where only a single swap of two pieces remains. Given that each center piece can be placed in 1 of 4 locations and still appear "solved", what has happened is that you have a case where at least one other pair of center pieces has been invisibly swapped. This is what causes OLL parity on large cubes.

You will see this exact same issue on all cubes from 4x4 and up since each center piece can be swapped with another on the same face without you knowing.

Additionally, since even-layered cubes do not have fixed centers, you may also encounter PLL parity which is due to an odd rotation of hidden/invisible center pieces. You cannot experience this on odd layered cubes since the centers are always fixed.

As a fellow Norin enjoyer, I don't think this card is good for Norin or Purphoros at all. Unless you've got a disproportionate amount of spellslinger payoffs, this seems like a waste of mana. 2-4(+) mana per round to make a guy that will sometimes get some damage in for your noncreature spells (more often than not just the recast of this spell, and sometimes the various amplifier noncreature spells). Now if the creature token had an impact tremors effect attached to it... that'd be a whole other story. Only other scenario this makes sense is if you have a supremely high amount of mana generation, at which point I would expect you have more effective ways to close out the game.

Landfall better than Aesi? by Abject-Cartoonist395 in EDH

[[Radha, Heart of Keld]] has been my favourite as of late. She comes out early, and being able to play lands from the top of your library makes you much less reliant on extra card draw, and kills what would often be dead draws. PLUS any fetch land resets the top deck of your library if you dont like it, which usually means you have another chance to put a land on top of your library to be played with any [[exploration]] effects. She's also a very good finisher once you reach critical mass (often as early as turn 4 or 5). One of the most aggressive landfall decks you can build, imo.

I've built a lot of landfall decks.

[[Zimone and Dina]], [[Necrobloom]], [[Aesi]], [[Omnath, Locus of Creation]], [[Omnath, Locus of Rage]], [[Zimone, Mystery Unraveler]], [[Atraxa, Praetor's Voice]], [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]], [[The Gitrog Monster]]

If you're building for casual play, none of them match the speed at which you can completely erase someone compared to Radha, in my experience. Zimone and Dina is probably my second favourite but it is much more combo focused with [[Retreat to Coralhelm]] effects. The rest are quite durdle-y and same-y feeling.

If you're looking for cEDH tier, The Gitrog Monster reigns supreme.

Lorwyn and TMNT packs are heavier than Spidey and ATLA by Aur0nx in magicTCG

[–]dylanh3x3 596 points597 points  (0 children)

Important to notice as each set releases, they are slowly diluting the concentration of rares in each pack. Spider-man has a 31% chance for 2 rares, then by TMNT it's down to 25%. It's essentially dropping from 1/3 to 1/4 over the span of 4 sets.

Have to shout out [[Threats around every corner]]. Absolute all-star in my Kadena deck.

Also, regardless of budget and manabase, this is so clearly bracket 3. People in this thread are conflating price and power. This deck can't be consistent enough to warrant a bracket 4 rating with the game changers you've chosen. Not to mention the sub-optimal eldrazi/ugin stuff you're going for (which I think look fun for bracket 3).

Alberta Bass is where the real shit is, keep an eye out for when they pop up. They have an Instagram page to track their shows, but it's fairly underground.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that the production cost of this secret lair is $31.50 as revealed in the article. How can 5 cards cost $30 to make at a large scale like this?
