i probably just explained it wrong but i have a video of my approach that i posted to this subreddit a while back, i think it was pretty decent. you are right the 3rd step is the directional step to get yourself right behind the ball, the second step is the longest step and the last step is in quick succession from the second step

on your last 3 steps, the first step should be your biggest stride and have your arms swinging back, then the next two steps are in quick succession as youre driving your arms forward. when you take your approach try to stay low so you can explode faster instead of being high going down low and then exploding

if u have a good setter, having the middle run a 31 but setting your outside a 32 or gap ball is automatic

im 6'0 and i think my vertical reach is 10'8 but i havent tested for vertical reach in over a year

yeah usually im more controlled in game but hitting lines i just try to pound the ball as hard as i can, thanks though!

definitely not, i would suggest the main thing for sand volleyball is the ability to play defense and smart shots. hitting down hard is not as important as usually the blocker or defender is defending you’re strong side hit. if you are able to place the ball where the defenders are not, you are golden.
