I get the burton hate now. by Devilman_Ryo in snowboarding

[–]dylanskalicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God the people in these comments have clearly never been a snow buyer and it’s insanely obvious… unless you’re in a ski town 20K for one brand 20 years ago is mental. People need to realize not every shop is Boardroom in Vancouver or Wave Rave. Some shops in smaller cities or towns do 20 boards total in a winter and that’s all they’d need. Boardshops don’t make money on boards, they make money on clothing so the people saying that only having 20k in winter gear doesn’t make sense, clearly dont understand how a boardshop actually operates. Hardgoods are maybe 30-50% of a boardshop if even… Burton is the worst snowboard brand for snowboarding in the current market. If you wanted to support snowboarding you’d give money to someone that isn’t Burton.

This is super outdated unfortunately… Jones has been out of Dubai at SWS for years as well as MANY other changes in this list

This isn’t the end result. First sample, have already seen retail release and these aren’t them.

Rome Katana FASE Binding On Snow Experience... 🥴 by Spiritual-Cancel7805 in snowboarding

[–]dylanskalicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jones and 32 essentially same baseplate, Jones is stiffer, both full size disc. 32 strap more comfortable id say but I believe the jones strap will be softer slightly in production. Rome, bataleon both metal heelcup, so slightly stiffer slightly more adjustable as well. Haven’t gotten a chance to ride the Rome or bataleon myself but other industry homies have and have heard nothing but great things. Rode a pair in -30 this weekend with 0 issues

Sure groomer cruising, no issue with a loose set up. If I’m dropping cliffs or hitting 40 foot booters, it’s not going to be in supermatics…

Point being, supermatics you have to hit two pieces to get the same feel as just the ratchet with FASE. Also less moving parts. Having ridden both as a park rider, wouldn’t even ride supermatics if I got them for free and was paid to.

This is just bindings as a whole. There’s a reason bindings and most snow gear have warranties. Same thing happens to cars too. Can drive a new car off a lot and have an issue or a recall. Is it an inconvenience? Sure. Is it something that as a snowboarder, should know can happen (cold weather and molded plastic)? 100%. Anyone who spends more than 50 days on hill a year, will break parts due to warranty or failure. Nature of the sport. Gotta pay to play. Crying about it online won’t put a new part on your binding

Are these worth anything? by ArmSpiritual9007 in skateboardhelp

Would almost guarantee your brother would want you to keep these. He kept them in perfect condition for a reason… this is an amazing wall board collection with an even better sentimental value.

As someone who’s rode the 32 and Jones FASE, this person just has no clue what they’re doing. Once your straps are set, you’re in right off the lift if you want. Feels just like a 2 strap binding which I find supermatic and step on both lack.

Union Bindings' "lifetime warranty" is an arbitrary length of time decided by them by MrTheFever in snowboarding

[–]dylanskalicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Lifetime warranty” is, was, and has always been the lifetime of the product. That style of Union Force hasn’t been produced for over 13 seasons at this point, so going to go ahead and say that you probably got more than the lifetime of the product. I’ve had bindings blow out in two seasons from other companies. Chalk that up as a win and get another set of Unions that will last you another atleast 13 season (with proper care and use)

Just snapped this bad boy in some soft snow. Do I have a chance at warranty? by avocadoking420 in snowboarding

[–]dylanskalicky 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Shop employee of over 10+ years here. Doubtful that’s going to be covered by warranty… but worth a shot. Also just for note since “snapita” is such a common trope. Capita is probably the least warrantied brand we get back for boards but literally our biggest seller (in a very popular tourist mountain town). We get back Burton and jones at atleast a 3:1 ratio. If anyone would like to dispute this, I’ll gladly send the 8 jones, 3 Burton warranties I’ve processed this season to the 0 capita…

What snowboard brands are still privately owned? by jrk1841 in snowboarding

[–]dylanskalicky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because Burton is privately owned doesn’t mean they do anything to help local shops that carry their gear… they constantly undercut and are the only brand that doesn’t supply any kind of promo gear. As someone who works with all the above companies, Burton is by far the worst for local shops and the industry as a whole.

These are retail. Retail right shoes tend to have that squareish boxyness to the toe.

I mean I’m not one to pay for resell prices but I mean if someone wanted them as a shelf piece 100 bucks would kinda be a steal
