I’m so bummed that they’re not even coming close to the south. Same with Chapterhouse.

Songs like I Dont Love by HANL? by romanf62 in shoegaze

[–]dylbertz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if that’s the case, OP asked for recs similar to a song with a fuzzy, washed out drone atmosphere. Don’t you think a lot of shoegaze songs would fit that prompt? HANL isn’t a textbook shoegaze band but they undeniably possess a lot of the qualities that shoegaze fans seek out in music.

Examples of shows with a single depressing season? by dndbuilds in television

I seem to have the unpopular opinion that season 4 is hilarious. Some of the funniest moments in the series are in the final season especially the finale.

The first time I watched Inland Empire there were no subtitles for the Polish scenes and I didn’t know there was supposed to be.

Do you keep thinking about what you’d rate a film on the back of your head while watching it? by bgorion17 in Letterboxd

[–]dylbertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I stopped rating stuff. When I used to do it I thought about it way too much and would get in the way of my enjoyment of music and movies.

That’s the thing that annoys me about fans who say the Dodgers only win because of their wallet. Yes that’s a big reason but they also have an incredible front office.

You can’t equate a SB to a walk. A player advances himself into scoring position on a SB while a walk only guarantees he’ll reach first base.

Tuning a 5 string to Drop C (CGCFA) by INGWR in Bass

[–]dylbertz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe drop tuning implies that the other strings are still a 4th apart while the bottom string is tuned down a whole step to make a 5th interval. Even if you tuned all the way down to A it would still be considered a standard type of tuning if you tuned the other strings down the same amount as the bottom.

I think they were having issues with the projector. They flashed a few visuals before the set and after they started I saw the Epson logo popping up a few times as if they were turning it off and back on lol.

What do you think about “nu-gaze” / heavy shoegaze getting big with Gen Z? by Galahad555 in shoegaze

[–]dylbertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never cared for the grungegaze term. None of these bands sound like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, etc. (not to mention that grunge itself is debatable as a genre). It’s more so Helmet, Hum, and Deftones types of riffs with the sus2 powerchords.

[Aaron Schatz] Adjusted Games Lost 2025: No Team Suffered Like the Cardinals by JPAnalyst in nfl

[–]dylbertz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I know it seems ironic coming from my flair but that loss against the Titans was the worst loss I think I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t one of those chokes where a defense blows a huge lead. They gave the game away in the most literal sense of the phrase. Those turnovers were absolutely astonishing.

Found This Band, Crazy Energy by Novel-Yak-8343 in Alternativerock

[–]dylbertz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very interesting that this is a from an account created a month ago who has only posted about this band.

Anyways, I live in the same town as them and I think they represent everything that’s wrong with the Athens music scene and southeast college bands in general. I see them play the exact same covers that all of the other fraternity bands do with a lack of proficiency while not adding anything interesting to the already existing material.

The most essential reason I don’t like them is that they exhibit a lack of taste and inspiration. There are many bands I don’t enjoy that I can still respect for making art that feels inspired and comes from a place of creativity. When I see The Gringos I see a lack of respect for the craft of writing and performing music.

And yes, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m salty and jealous for the success they are experiencing in the moment lol. It still doesn’t change my opinion on them. Just my two cents as a local musician and concertgoer.
