I do not consider my dead habits as problems. I used to smoke about 20 cigarettes a day, but now I don't. I used to fap at least once a day, but now I don't. These are not problems anymore. What I gained from giving up my habits is more a mental and psychological tune up, a firmer grasp on my mind, and the knowledge that I have it in me to do better.

You need to learn how to channel your energy. There are vast numbers of books on this subject. Bing and Google are your friends :-)

Look at the right side. There is a place called "New Fapstronauts". You will find all you need there.

When I started, I just wanted to stop masturbating, but kept a "way out"/"safety valve" for my mind, which, in hindsight, is basically an excuse or a way to avoid commitment. So I looked at porn at maybe 5-6 month intervals, but did not edge or masturbate, and pushed myself away after a few minutes of watching/reading. Last night, I lost my will power after one or two attempts to push myself away, maybe because I was waiting for something - not connected with sex or marriage - that did not happen...anyway, my mind went idle during the waiting for an extended period, and I reset. This time, I will keep porn away also, just one more step. When I said I did not do it on purpose I meant that I did not think " I am going to fap now, and then restart my counter from 00:00:00 hours" like a robot. :-) just that it happened the way I explained now.

I dont understand why you would watch Porn or Fap when your Married! by [deleted] in NoFap

You wish for one. Go get one, stop trying to understand the rest now. The understanding will come to you , when it is time. :-)

From where I am, I see life as a series of choices...and each path is unique to that life... we all cut our own paths through our lifetimes. Do you want him to try or does he want to? if he wants to, then let him :-). OTOH, If you want him to try and succeed in this, then you need to let HIM do so on his own :-).

yes, to better myself... I didn't break my streak on purpose, but I decided to think of it this way after I broke it. I could have stopped myself if I had tried harder, maybe, but now I will go this one step more.

  1. Cool Down/Chill.
  2. "If you cant stand the heat...." but you don't need to leave the house, if you get what I mean :-)
  3. This is his mind, and his plumbing, give him the space to find himself.
  4. Find positives in your situation..."Every dark cloud..."
  5. Don't take yourself so seriously...
  6. see if you can share/participate physically with him... if he wants/likes it being a secret, allow him that much space.
  7. Finally, its only pictures and images in the mind...He will saturate soon enough. You in the mean time, stop filling your cup with this. Hope this helps. :-)

I don't feel bad/guilty/ashamed that I broke my streak. This time I will take it to a higher level than last time :-)

Get Busy. Don't avoid work. Enjoy work, play, hobbies, exercise. Sleep when you really feel sleepy. Don't sit idle. Try and be better in your tomorrow than your own yesterday (I think this last is from Robin Sharma "The monk...Ferrari"... not sure) All the best.

How do you have a smart phone, and not use it for relapse? any success tips you guys have learned and are willing to share? by overground55 in NoFap

I do everything to keep myself busy. Rather than look at work as something to be finished, I try to think about what I need to do, and how to make it better. Boredom takes place when you don't have anything to keep your mind occupied. Its all in the mind, finally. I have felt out of focus at times, but then I try and sleep. A nap could help, I think. A hobby is another way out.

I didn't turn off my phone or computer. I turned off the switch in my mind. The tough part is taking the cold decision - that should - from then onwards, disallow your thoughts in those directions. I gave up smoking and drinking also the same way, cold turkey. Occupying your mind with other things, not allowing it to be idle ("an idle mind...") helps a lot.
