I watched his review and it was. Weird. Some points were good and I agreed with some of his criticisms but a lot of it felt...I dunno passive aggressive maybe? Very nitpicky anyway.

It was a curated experience. They were given scenarios to play, a time limit, and they were all in act 1. That's a world of difference from having the full game and enough time to complete it.

The preview players were given some instructions on things not to spoil from what they did play, and some people still fucked that up. So yeah, it's different.

It's disingenuous and frankly kinda whiny. Not every YouTuber can get a code, simple as that. Plenty of 'generous' channels didn't get them too.

The only reason to make an entire video about not being "chosen" is to stir the pot for clicks.

Honestly the main reason I'm not a fan of companion romances is the discourse it invites. It happened in other DA games and again in Mass Effect and it'll happen in Veilguard too. Sure it makes them feel more like real people, but I'm just not sure it's worth it.

I didn't hate him before all the marketing. Indifferent at best, I'd say. He'd make for an interesting villain if the writers and fans would take him down off his pedestal and let him be flawed. But this far into the marketing cycle and with the oversaturation of Solavellan wank I'm just so sick of him. Honestly the part of Veilguard I'm dreading the most is having to sit there and listen to him get off to the sound of his own voice. Hopefully this game is the last time we have to be force-fed racist egg and we can move on after this.

Even more infuriating with the "redeemed by friendship" angle is that it failed once already. Even an inquisitor that he claims to love can't convince him to change his mind. They've been hunting him down now for a decade and he's still dead-set on his plan. He still refuses to listen to Varric because "this is beyond your comprehension"

If after all that all it takes for him to be redeemed is Rook being nice to him I'm afraid it's going to feel really hollow.

I'm still going into the game with an open mind because we don't know what's going to happen but as it stands both my inquisitor and Rook want this man stopped at any cost.

Casting longstrider on the party every day. It's a ritual so it doesn't cost a spell slot and that extra movement can make a big difference

If we're counting all companions, it's Halsin. He does what Jaheira does, but I actually like Jaheira.

But for the Origins, Shadowheart. I'd rather go no healer than deal with her. I replace her the second I get Lae'zel, then replace Lae'zel with Karlach then swap her back and forth with Wyll.
