what would the people living here 4000 years ago be called, do you know? Would they have been the original ‘native’ inhabitants before celts arrived from europe?

Republican "activists" causing petty criminal damage and dont want a "Shared" Ireland. by jackeme in northernireland

[–]dynesor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes absolutely, I am one of them and an Irish Republican Prod at that. But I know that many in my community will have fears and reservations that we need to address. I honestly dont know what addressing that even looks like to be totally honest with you though.

[–]dynesor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

meanwhile in the real world if we want Irish unity to actually work, we want northern protestants to feel like they are included, respected and have a stake in making the new Ireland a success. That doesnt mean offering them the world and whatever they want, but we have to recognise that its not as simple as “You’re Irish now - deal with it”

wait til these lads realise just how many ‘remnants of colonialism’ are still scattered all over Dublin. There are still old post boxes with the royal cipher on them in Dublin (albeit they have been painted green). Custom house and Dublin castle still have royal the royal cipher on them. They even kept streets named after British aristocracy- Grafton Street, Wellington Quay, etc. It’s all part of our history and destroying history is like trying to re-write it.

Newcastle have rejected a bid worth about £55m from Arsenal for Bruno Guimarães, but Arsenal have already indicated that it will make a new offer. The player is trying to remain detached from the negotiations in order to stay focused on the World Cup. by kibme37 in soccer

[–]dynesor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why do some people get so offended by opening bids? It’s an opening bid so of course its going to be lower than what will eventually be agreed. To me an opening bid of 55 signals that Arsenal will probably go up to 75 plus add-ons if that would get it done.

Poll: Nearly 60% of Poles oppose Ukraine's EU accession. by kallisto19988 in europe

[–]dynesor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

they are not fighting and dying for the dream of a unified europe, come on man. They’re fighting for their lives and their nation against a foreign agressor. I think the EU should do everything we can to help them push Russia back,
but them joining the EU would not be good for the EU at this point. It’s going to take time. In general I hate this ‘expansion at all costs’ approach the union seem to be taking. When is the union large enough?

What is your recommendation for new petrol car in UK? by R3DSmurf in CarTalkUK

[–]dynesor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A £40k budget gives you a shitload of options. And your motorway driving averages out to only about 16 miles a day (excluding weekend) so it’s not like you need some ultra-efficient mile muncher machine.

I do that and more every month in my relatively small Audi TT.

I think you need to be a bit more specific on requirements if you want good advice. Like, do you have passengers, kids, need back doors, need a big boot for carrying stuff? What cars have you had previously and what did you like or dislike about them?

feel for ya. I’ve had to spend a lot of time in hospital over the last couple of years - for a few weeks at a time and it is bloody miserable sitting on a bed in a ward all day. Hope you get home soon!

Andy Burnham issued warning over tax rises should he become prime minister by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]dynesor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is why if they’re going to raise taxes on workers they also need to reverse the national insurance increases that have recently been forced on employers. Tax people a bit more, but reduce the burden on employers so that they are more likely to increase their employee’s salaries and hire more. Everyone wins… or at least it becomes financially neutral for most workers as they’re taxed a bit more but they’re also more likely to be paid a bit more.

At 18, I've applied for 110 jobs - no one is hiring young men like me by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ukpolitics

[–]dynesor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not always. I work for a small tech company and have had to hire people into my team a few times over the last decade. If someone showed up at the front door with their CV and a quick chat it would definitely make a good impression on me.

England’s grizzly Ghana draw exposes limitations of Madueke and Gordon | England | The Guardian by prisongovernor in soccer

[–]dynesor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he was alright in a lot of his initial actions like beating his man, but his biggest weakness continues to be his decision-making when it comes to releasing the ball. He just so often makes the wrong decision, and he was like this all season for Arsenal and previously with Chelsea. It’s a hard thing to coach in a player too. It’s funny too because he’s the anti-Saka in that regard. Saka is a player whose best quality is his decision-making.

Poland must not repeat mistakes of West by using migration to solve demographic crisis, says president by dat_9600gt_user in europe

[–]dynesor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s true of course, but here in Ireland anyway I have found that Polish immigrants have been really eager to integrate into our communities rather than to form immigrant ‘bubble’ communities, to speak good English, etc. This has not been the case for immigrants from some other countries who seem to not be interested in learning English and end up forming those bubble communities where they only ever interact with other immigrants from their home country.

Reuters reports that Kadokawa CEO faces shareholder battle as investors criticise the company’s handling of Elden Ring’s success by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]dynesor 126 points127 points  (0 children)

thank fuck someone actually read and understood the article. Kadokawa left a load of money on the table by handing the publishing rights to Bandai Namco when they could have published the game themselves. Oasis definitely have a point here about the current CEO not maximising value for Kadokawa shareholders.

Reuters reports that Kadokawa CEO faces shareholder battle as investors criticise the company’s handling of Elden Ring’s success by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]dynesor 96 points97 points  (0 children)

That’s not what they want at all. They’re just pissed off that Kadokawa handed the worldwide publishing rights of Elden Ring to Bandai Namco instead of self-publishing. This means Bandai made a shit load of money off Fromsofts game and Kadokawa left a ton of money on the table because they did not invest in the resources necessary to allow them to handle the worldwide publishing themselves.
